A friendly looking old lady opened the door. A huge smile spread across her face.
She reminded me of my grandma, who I, by the way, have to visit.

"Hey mom" dad smiled, as we walked to grandma.
She had just moved into an old age home and wasn't too thrilled about it.

"Hi" she smiled, as she saw us coming.

"How are you?" dad asked.

"I'm good. How are you? And how are my precious grandkids?" she smiled at us.

"We're good, grandma. We're happy to see you" Lucas hugged her.

"I'm happy I see you, too" she gave him a kiss.

"How is it in here?" dad asked.

"It's better then I thought it would be, but I'm so dependent now. That's not me, to depend on other people that much"

"I'm sure you'll get used to it"

"Hello. How are you doing? Come in, come in" she ushered us in and closed the door behind us.

"How are you doing?" she hugged Ruby.

"I'm good, mom. Thanks. How are you?" she replied.

"Good, Good. Never been better. And is this your beautiful daughter?" she pointed at me.
Beautiful? She hasn't even looked at me, yet.
Well, grandmas.

"Yeah. That Amelia" Ruby smiled, proudly.

"It's so nice to meet you, Amelia. I'm Thea, Ruby's mom" she smiled at me.
I just smiled back. I'm not gonna talk to her, just yet.

"Oh, and here's my little cutie. Hey, Mandy. How are you doing?" she cooed at Amanda, in my arms.

"How are you?" she asked Brody, as she hugged him.

"I'm good. I'm good. Very happy" he replied.

"Good. Let's go in. Kyle's already here. He's been waiting for you"
We followed her to the living room.
On the couch sat an older man, I guess Ruby's dad, and a younger one, I guess her brother. He looked a few years younger then her, but I don't even know how old she is.

"Hey Ruby. I missed you" he brother jumped up and hugged her.

"I missed you, too" she replied, "I want you to meet my daughter, Amelia"

"Hi Amelia. It's nice to meet you. I'm Kyle" he stuck out his hand for me to shake.

"Hi Amelia. I'm Jim" her dad said.
They were all very friendly.

"I want you to meet my girlfriend, Eliza, and our son, Ethan. Follow me outside" Kyle said.
I followed him to the backyard.

"Eliza. There's someone I want you to meet" he walked up to a pretty looking lady.

"Hi. I'm Eliza. What's your name?" she smiled at me.

"Hey Amelia. When did you get back?" Debby's pitch voice yelled, as she ran over to me.

"So, I'm guessing you're Amelia" Eliza chuckled.
I nodded.

"This is Ruby's kid. Then one she told us about" Kyle explained.

"Yeah, I figured. It's very nice to meet you. I'm very happy to have a new member in the family. That's our five year old son, Ethan" she pointed at a little boy.

"Amelia's my sister" Debby said, proudly.

"I know" Eliza replied.

Mandy started whining a little, so I decided to go back inside.
Kyle followed me.

"So, how old are you, again?" he asked me, after I sat down on the couch and fed Amanda her bottle.

"Thirteen" I whispered.
Why did I just talk to him?

"Kyle" Ruby shot him the I told you look.

"Oh yeah, I'm sorry. I forgot. But, hey, she did answer"

"She's getting there, Kyle. Don't make it too hard" she replied.
I have her a small 'thank you' smile.

"I guess I'm just gonna tell you about me, then. So you can listen. Maybe when you know me good enough, you'll be comfortable with me, too"
I must say, he was really sweet. He obviously wanted to get to know me and I think that's really nice of him.

"So, as you know, my name's Kyle and I'm Ruby's younger brother. I'm twenty three years old, so five years younger then Ruby"-thanks. Now I know how old she is-"I used to be quite popular in school. I had a lot of friends. Eventually, as I started getting older and puberty hit me. I became a bad boy. I was the school's ultimate player and heartbreaker who would sleep with, at least, three different girls a week"-I don't know if he remembered, but I'm thirteen. I'm not that interested in this kind of stories, yet. But, at least he trusted me enough to tell me-"When I met Eliza, I changed, though. I know, it's so cliche and cheesy and all, but it's really true. I totally fell in love with her and we hit it off, right away. When we were eighteen, I got her pregnant. To be honest, we weren't too thrilled. The baby would be born after we graduated, but we were still in school when we found out. My parents, obviously, weren't too happy either. Ruby just got married and had her first kid, and then I come along, getting my girlfriend pregnant. Anyway, we graduated a few weeks before Ethan was born. We moved into an apartment together, right after our graduation, and got ready to become parents. Obviously, I had to find a job to support for my family and had to skip college, which I had actually hoped to go to. But, I was happy to be with people I love, so I didn't complain. I got a job as a waiter in a restaurant, not far from where Ruby lives. You should come there, by the way. I'll give you special treatment" he smirked, "Yeah, that's basically it. Now we're just living our life. Enjoying our little family. We do plan to get married, one day, but not yet. Oh, and I am truly very happy that you are now part of my family. I love having a niece that's not so young. I love Debby and Amanda, of course, but I can't really talk to them about more serious stuff. But, now I have you" he smiled at me.
I smiled back.
Yeah, I definitely like him.
