"I hope you enjoyed yourself, Amelia. And I'm happy to have you back home" Ruby smiled, as I sat down on the couch.
I gave her a small smile back.

In a way I was happy to be back, too. I don't know why. It wasn't because I didn't wanna be with Demi, cause I really did.
I secretly wished that they would adopt me, or something like that, but that never happened and probably wasn't gonna happen either.
I was really gonna miss them. They had become more like my family then Ruby did.

So why was I happy to be back? I don't know. I just felt relief, as I sat down on the couch. Like a weight was lifted off my shoulder. But what was it?

"Would you mind feeding Mandy her bottle for me?" Ruby asked.

"Sure" I replied, getting Amanda out of the playpen.

What?
Did I just talk to her?

I looked up at her and covers my mouth with my hand, in terror, but she just smiled at me. A reassuring smile, to show me that it was okay. She was clearly happy.

How did that happen?
How did I talk to her?
What was going on?
Was this why I was happy to be back?
Cause I could talk to them?
God, this is so confusing.

"Wow. I'm very happy, Amelia. I did not expect that. I absolutely love your voice, honey. Do you think it's something I should get used to?" she asked, clearly careful with her words.

"Dunno" I shrugged, as I started giving Amanda her bottle.
Ruby smiled at me once more, before skipping off to the kitchen.

I was really confused.
At first I really didn't wanna talk to anybody, but later on, I just couldn't. Before I went to Demi's, I wanted to talk, but I couldn't get any sound out of me.

"You do know that we're only sending you there for a specific reason, right? Otherwise we wouldn't have done it" Stacy said, as I stepped into her car.

"It's only for you to start talking, Amelia. It's not because we want them to be part of your life"
How many times is she gonna tell me that?

We were silent for a few minutes, until he spoke again.

"Please try to start taking soon. Don't get too attached to them. They're not part of your life anymore. It's only to get you to start talking" she said, again.

If only she knew how badly I wanted to talk. I really did. I just couldn't.
I sighed and nodded, as I stepped out of the car.

"Remember what I just told you, Amelia. It's important" she yelled after me.
Annoying much.

Did going to Demi really help?
Did it change me?
Why could I now talk?

"Hey Amelia, you're back!" Brody smiled at me, as he walked into the house.
I looked up at him and smiled.
He looked happy.
Why were they so happy to have me back?

"Hi baby. How are you doing?" he cooed at Mandy, who was now sitting on my lap.

"Hi Brody" Ruby entered the living room.

"Hey babe. How are you?" he kissed her.

Where's Debby, though?
I hadn't seen her, yet.

"I'm good. So mom asked if we would want to stay over" she asked.

"Isn't it tomorrow?"

"Yeah, it is. But she asked me if we wanted to come today already and stay over. Kyle's gonna be there too"

"Yeah, I guess that fine with me"

"Good. So I think we should leave in about two hours?"

"Okay. That's great" he said, and went upstairs.

"Are you okay with that, Amelia?" She asked me.
I had no idea what I was gonna do there, but I just nodded. I didn't really have another choice, did I?

"So, were going over to my parents house and my brother with his girlfriend and son are gonna be there, too. Tomorrow my aunt with her husband and three kids with their families are gonna come and we're just gonna have a family day. We told everyone about you, so you don't have to feel uncomfortable. They'd all like to meet you" she smiled, "Do you think there's gonna be a problem? Or is everything alright with you?"

"I'm good" I replied.

"Thank you. I'm very happy" she gave me a slight hug, as she got Amanda out of my arms and sent me upstairs to pack an overnight bag.

I was still surprised with myself that I was talking, but I must say, Ruby's improved. I liked her a whole lot better now, then I did when I left.

I think that because I knew that I wasn't gonna live with Demi, which I had secretly hoped, and that I wasn't gonna see her again in the near future, if at all, I had come to terms with the fact that this is now all I have as family. Whether I like it or not, they are now my family.
I think that made me like Ruby more, cause she's closest I have to a mother now. And she wasn't as bad as I though she'd be.

With Debby it'll still be a different story, though. Even though I haven't seen her yet, I just really detest that kid. She just gave me the wrong first impression. But, as long as Brody, Ruby and Amanda are the way they are now, which is okay, I can live with it.

"You all ready?" Ruby asked, as I came back downstairs.
I nodded.

"Good. We'll be leaving in about half an hour. You can give your bag to Brody, if you want. He's outside and he'll put it in the car for you"
I nodded and walked to the car. Brody smiled, as he saw me approaching.

"Came to put your bag in?" he asked.
I nodded.

"Here. Let me take it" he took it out of my hands and put it in the trunk.

"Would you mind bringing this in with you?" he handed me a car seat.
I gave him a questioning look.
Why did he want it inside? Didn't the kids need it?

"It was Debby's, but we don't need it" he replied.

"Why?" I asked.

He looked at me in shock, but that soon turned into happiness.

"Wow. You talk?" he asked.

"I guess" I replied.

"That makes me so happy. And you have a beautiful voice" he hugged me.
I actually really like him, now.

"Why don't you need it anymore? And where is she?"
