We're Fallen

What happened to us?

Remember endless days of not caring at all?

I know those were only a few even back then, but they seem to many from this view.

Look at ourselves.

We look so broken.

I know those days weren't the lightest nor easiest, but they are, compare to this.

Run over fields of flowers and scream out in happiness.

Suddenly the ground falls to pieces and we end up in hell.

Bruised knees and eyes of an older person, that's what we see in the shreds of the mirrors we pass by.

Running around in our own circles.

Screaming out in frustration over our own apathy.

We try digging our way out of this madness.

But we fall to pieces on the floor for each time.
Get up, they shout down at us.
Rise, they say.
You used to be, they tell us.

Attempts to climb out of madness fail.

Soon we're in our own lonely corner and wish for the years to pass by.

What happened?

Because neither of us asked for this.

The ground just suddenly shook and then it broke down.

We have fallen.

Are we going to rise?

Looking up where the sky seems blue and we realize we're sitting in a hole.

Up there, the field of flowers is still there.

The field where we used to run on warm summer days.

What happened?
