With Summer, I Hope

I think there's hope

Just the tiniest little spark

Because as the sun gently caresses my skin in another way that isn't just barely holding onto this ground

I hope

As the greens break out of their muddy brown prisons

I hope

The clouds on the sky aren't overwhelming and hissing dark nothings

They have a mellow colour and with that, I hope

My frost bitten skin has waited for warmth

The trees have been stripped of life to survive the cold months and I can say the same for me

Maybe I am foolish for thinking that my agony will be over because life is returning to nature and the sun is warming up this ground

But I can't help to feel the weight lifting a bit along with the heavier clothes getting peeled off

The nights aren't as overwhelmingly dark and the air feels easier to breathe

Under my breath, in my thoughts and even in my heartbeat, there's a phrase

Summer's coming back
