After my tour I sat on the curb by the school trying to think wether to go back home or shopping. I wanted and needed to shop but I didn't feel like it.
"Hi"
I hear someone say beside me.
Liz
She sits beside me on the curb and hugs her backpack
"Soo Whatcha doin..?"
She asked and I looked out at the road
"Just thinking.."
I say back
I don't want to talk to her
I don't wanna talk to anyone but I don't even know her
"Cool... oh how's your first day going?"
"Good. It's pretty easy so far but yet I've only just started"
She nods then stands up
"Well I better get going"
She walked off before I can say anything. That was weird..
I shuffle through my bag and try and find my Asgard book. I wanna see how much of it I have left so i can get a new book to read
I hear the front school doors open and see Peter and his friend Ned rush out.
"I told you we'd miss the bus!"
Ned says loudly
"Dude chill I'll just ask May to get us"
"Like May is able to get us. Isn't she at work?"
"Then you call your mom, Ned"
I turn away from them and look out at the road but I keep on listening
"Hey.. Mom.. me and Peter missed the bus cause there was this thing- not important. Can you come get us?"
I hear Ned talking on the phone
Should I do something
Should I offer them a ride
I don't want to get involved with them just yet.
But it would give me a head start to my fathers request
I take out my book and read it hoping they won't notice me but they do.
"Ned..ned.. it's that new girl Veronica"
I hear Peter say quietly but there's no one around so even the tiniest peep you'd be able to hear.
"Hey Veronica!"
I hear Ned say as he get closer. I put my bookmark in my book and close it
"I prefer Vee but Whats up?"
I ask picking my backpack up and looking at him.
"I-I was just going to ask you what's up"
"Well I was reading"
"Why on the side of the road though?"
"Doesn't matter.."
I put my backpack over my shoulders and watch as Peter walks over.
"And you guys missed the bus? I overheard."
I turn to them saying
"Yeah and my aunt cant pick me up so we go to walk home"
Peter says
Aunt? Not mom? I was thinking that May person was peters mom
"At least it's nice out"
I look around at the blue sky hoping they would leave me alone.
"I should get going"
I start to say grabbing my keys and heading toward me car. I don't even know how it got here since I walked this morning. I saw my car at lunch and had been thinking this was my fathers doing
"Hey!-"
Peter yells out then clears his throat
"Hey.. um can-can you give us a ride to the subway?"
I nod and they come over. They both go in the backseat making me feel like I'm a mom dropping my kids off at school.
