daniel and aubrielle sat in the studio room in silence for a few minutes. before he glanced at the violin on the wall and went to go sit down on one of the many pianos in the room. he played a slow melody without any chords at first, but once aubrielle took interest and stood up. the beautiful chords ringed in their ears, as she held james's hands over his head for support while they walked towards the piano.
daniel had noticed their actions and slowed the melody down, adjusting himself so aubrielle could sit down next to him. she picked james up with a small laugh at his short squeal before placing him on her lap when she sat down at the piano next to daniel. both, james and aubrielle watched as daniels fingers swiftly danced on the keys of the piano, and watched it come to a slow stop with a final chord.
"so he can play piano too" aubrielle jokingly teased as she let her fingers trace over they keys on her side, the right side.
"I can play a lot more than cello and piano" daniel responded
"ah, a music prodigy" aubrielle solved with a head nod, james grabbed her left hand while her right hand slowly played a few keys
"so she can play piano too" daniel mimicked, a small laugh escaping his lips
"technically there wouldn't be 'too', you never heard me play violin, i could be lying" she spoke with a small shrug, she wasn't lying
"so, should we find out if you're lying?" daniel asked, once again looking at the violin that decorated the studio wall.
"maybe another time" aubrielle compromised, finishing the short melody. there was yet another silence, the girl sighed before speaking, "why are you doing this? why are you going through all this trouble?"
"what trouble?" daniel asked, he knew exactly what she meant, "nobody mentioned any trouble" he added, which was true
"you know what i mean" she mumbled, "why are you going through all of this? you didn't even know me more than a month ago, and now..." she trailed off to process her words
"and now I'm here because i realized i had a son, I'm here because of him" he gestured to the toddler in the girl's lap, "but even then, when i agreed to meet i wanted to hang out with the girl i met twice, so if this is about what you and jack talked about the yesterday, because i convinced him to tell me and i know now. then yes, I'm staying because of you, and out of it there's a son. if I'm being honest i wasn't expecting to have a kid but i do, it's a life and i created that with you, there's no way I'm going to give something like that up. i didn't realize until know, i guess everything that's been adding up just sort of hit, but im being genuine when i say that i am ready to be here for you, james, and all of the doctor appointments and after for the little one" daniel explained, it wasn't as rushed as it might seemed. he took a lot of thought and pauses so he purposely didn't freak aubrielle out. but this is what she wanted, she wanted him to say that he was committed. all she had to do now was trust him...
and as for daniel, he would need to stay there to present his commitment. he absolutely knew he was ready to commit for aubrielle and now to prove that he's read to commit to himself, that he's ready to be a dad. well, that would be a learning process and time with aubrielle and james would suffice it.
aubrielle heavily sighed before speaking, her right heel moved up and down shaking her whole leg and slightly moving james, "how many exes do you have?"
