a couple sat hand in hand on a bench looking at the view of the warm colors that filled the sky. a peach color melted into the horizon with the sun. the two were silent for the most part as they reflected on the last three and a half years of their life. if you told either of them, they would be deeply in love with someone with two kids five years ago: they wouldn't believe it, not a single word. they were 20, not even allowed to legally drink in the united states, how and why would they believe it?
so it's quite amazing when you think about it. they had two kids: james dan anders, and feredy ann seavey. even if they both biologically have the same parents, their personalities differ so much.
james is four, he hasn't started kindergarten but he speaks well, as much as a four year old can. he can count to sixteen, he knows the alphabet, he's potty trained, yet he hates going to the bathroom by himself. he just loves the relationship with his mother. when she's in the kitchen cooking, he's peeking around the kitchen island. when she's working, he's on her lap. when she's napping, he's snuggling right beside her.
that doesn't mean that james doesn't have a good relationship with his dad. james loves it when he throws him in the air, he loves it when they play catch, especially if he gets to throw the ball at uncle tyler. for some odd reason he naturally had a tendency to do that, at least that's what his dad said; but his mom knew that james saw him throw a ball at tyler and took that from him.
james loves his little sister, even when it means they have to share his ball. james loves the small group of family they have going on, as much as he loves the beach he doesn't like the strangers that bend down to talk to him.
feredy on the other hand waves and says hi to everyone she passes by, everyone. she's still learning the basics and knows how to speak, although there are days no one can understand her rambles, no one except her dad. feredy is at the stage where she doesn't like any female getting close to him, not even mom. she's much more fussy than james but it's what the two expected when entering adulthood.
adulthood, what an interesting world for aubrielle and daniel. neither of them expected to have kids so soon, yet they wouldn't change it for the world.
"are you sure it's a good idea to leave james and feredy with christian alone?" daniel asked as he turned his head to aubrielle who snuggled into him. aubrielle shook her head, those two were a rambunctious bunch, there was no denying that. "then why are we doing it?" he asked
"because christian volunteered to come by the house, if we dropped them off with your parents we would have to bring all the stuff and their house isn't baby proofed," aubrielle explained. the pair had moved out of the house about a year ago, even with the complaining from christian, they still moved. the option was still there for visiting, but to him it wasn't enough.
aubrielle and daniel paid off the hospital bills for both james and feredy. together, they bought a three bedroom house. one of the rooms was used for daniel's studio, the other was the couples bedroom, and the third room was intended for james and feredy. they both had a tendency to sleep with mom and dad, not that they minded.
"well, good thing i told mom and dad to go over," daniel said as he tightened his arm around the girl before sighing, "we have to go home soon," he realized and aubrielle giggled.
"oh, you love it," aubrielle sang. daniel shook his head but they both knew that he did. even if it was tiring, deep down all he wanted was to get back to 'trouble one' and 'trouble two'. they couple enjoyed their walk on the way down, walking slowly and laughing when they were practically stopped when arriving at the car.
