"so how did the meeting go yesterday?" nicolette asked, as she washed the dishes from breakfast.

"it was alright, I just feel like I'm missing some stuff, well, I know I am" aubrielle replied, as she put one more dish into the sink.

"interesting" nicolette commented, the faucet running filled the silence, then her voice did when she finished, "I'm proud of you elle"

"for what?" the girl asked, furrowing her eyebrows as she looked away from the mirror she was fixing her faux blonde hair into a pony tail.

"for telling daniel about your parents, about your dad, about your ex, and why how you're scared of rejection because of it. I'm also proud that you let daniel babysit, even if you were in the same house, it was still hours on end with just him and james" a big smile on her face as she explained her proudness of aubrielle. she was truly happy that she was making good decisions for not only herself, but the people around her.

"thank you, nicole, it means a lot actually" aubrielle admitted, "and thanks for babysitting james, I really need this hike" she explained and her sentence ending with a sigh full of content.

"of course, can I ask why daniel isn't babysitting?" nicolette asked

"because you were here when I decided I needed a hike" aubrielle explained, even if it wasn't the full truth. she didn't want to particularly admit that she invited him on the hike. yup, she invited daniel. why? she wanted to get to know him more, to put more trust in him, and for a reason that surprised her; she enjoyed his company. there was just something about him, and she wanted to figure it out.

"okay then, when do you think you'll be back?" nicolette asked, "I wanted to go see a movie with hailey" she explained

"maybe an hour or two, I can rush if you wish" aubrielle explained, crouching down to tie her left shoe.

"no, no, that's perfect, I'll see you when you get back, don't over work yourself though, and maybe you can set up an appointment for testing" nicolette said, gesturing to aubrielle's stomach when she stood up.

"right. I think I already have a belly and it hasn't even been ten weeks yet" aubrielle admitted, going under her hoodie and placing her hand on her stomach.

"oh shush, hasn't even looked like you gained a pound" nicolette honestly said, slightly laughing from the conversation.

"I know, I've just been eating a lot of fast food" aubrielle admitted, "another great reason for this hike" she added, with a soft laugh, "I'll see you in an hour or two"

"yup, and I'll be here with james" nicolette said, even if it was quite obvious. aubrielle grabbed her hydro flask that contained ice water, she grabbed her phone, and keys, before going down the stairs. unlike normal, she took a glance at the elevator, recalling how somehow daniel got her onto the death trap. then she remembered how she reached for his hand, for comfort. that's when she shook her head and quickly went down the stairs, to her car, and on her way to pick up daniel.

it wasn't a long ride, and it actually wasn't boring to aubrielle. although she had the radio on, she didn't pay attention to the music that was playing. her mind just kept trailing off to the hike she was about to have, to who she was accompanied by when she picked him up, to her son that was most likely at home asleep. she wasn't stressed, she was relaxed. which was big improvement because daniel was sitting right next to her.
