"what story?" aubrielle asked simply
"well for one" hailey started, clapping her hands together, "you two are in an apartment, and it looks like nothing had gone wrong. two, daniel is holding james; someone you are very protective over. thirdly, i thought daniel was joking when he said about you two having lunch, but now i can see that its reasonable" she smirked, spinning around the apartment to cover it up before she turned back to the two.
aubrielle slightly sighed, taking each statement into consideration before answering her, "one, sure. two, he just found out that they're biologically related. three, the reason we're going to lunch is so we can talk more about james, so don't get any ideas" she waved her finger, like if hailey was a small child wanting candy or the newest toy. daniel was completely oblivious, not that he didn't understand or was dumb, but because he chose not to understand. instead, his gentle gaze landed on james; he admired the tiny beauty marks that were planted on his chubby cheeks, he admired the shape of his lips and how similar it was to his own, he admired his cute nose and how it was more of aubrielle's, he admired the light, gentle blue color of his eyes, and how it moved across his face, he admired his messy brown hair, and how it brushed over his small brows. he smiled at the small grip that wrapped around his index and middle finger, her chuckled lightly when james squeezed them tighter, attempted to pull his fingers and squeal from excitement.
daniel continued to admire and interact with his son, softly speaking words to him. meanwhile, hailey was over the moon to babysit james, and even more because it was out of the reason that daniel and aubrielle were going on a date! well... it wasn't a date. but hailey didn't care if it was or not, to her, this was their beginning to marriage. she just knew it.
aubrielle had eventually insisted on the two leaving, although a good part of her only wanted to leave to stop the embarrassment she was feeling because of what hailey and her were talking about. daniel, had no idea about this so he thought she was just excited to finally attempt a relationship amongst the two, even if it were to only be friends. it was better than having an argument every other conversation they held.
they went through the drive-thru of 'original tommy's' and mutually decided to stop at a park to eat there. it was a nice day out, the clouds sparely scattered around the blue sky, the sun shining down, and the faint screams of kids yelling from the park. they sat at a bench that could fit six if you squeezed together, but it was initially made for four. they sat across from each other and daniel had set out their burgers for the both of them.
"you have friday and the weekends off, right?" daniel asked, folding on of the two paper bags before walking away and throwing it away, "right?" he asked again, sitting down once again.
"yeah, for the most part at least" aubrielle answered, taking a sip of her lemonade which was held in a plastic cup, "how about you? you said our schedules were relatively the same but I also know..." she trailed off, taking another sip from her drink before continuing, "what's your schedule like?" she asked again
daniel swallowed the bite of his burger he ate before answering, "i usually get at least a week of a heads up and that's usually for a meeting. i go into the studio every now and then, it's a very free schedule, but also busy when music is ready or for tour"
aubrielle simply nodded her head, she had already guessed that in her head but wanted to ask because he asked about her schedule. "can i come over on the weekdays, I'll let you know before I head over" daniel asked, "you can focus your work on school and it gives me a chance to spend time with james, which still shocks me that his name is my middle name, did you do that because of me?"
