chapter ten ;; drowsy
❝ I'm really sorry for everything I've
done to you up until now. ❞
For the last few days, Toshiro and Inochi have been trailing you. They were trying to find evidence of your crush on Neji, but they'd been unsuccessful. You were aware of them following you because they didn't have their chakra hidden, and they were way too obvious to go unnoticed.
After all, Toshiro's messy red hair and raspy laugh were unmistakable for anyone else's. Inochi could have easily concealed his chakra and snuck around without you noticing, yet Toshiro had to tag along.
Today you were sleeping in one of the less populated training grounds from the leaf. Trees surrounded the place in a circle and you enjoyed visiting. Mainly because neither Toshiro nor Inochi knew about this place. They'd lost you on your way there, so you were alone in the peace and quiet.
Your diary was covering your face, casted arm resting on your chest. It was a perfect day for napping, the gentle sun was beaming its light on you with the fresh spring breeze following behind it. Also, no annoying boys to bother you.
Being all alone in a forest with hardly any threat allowed you to fall into a deep slumber without any worries. It was mere silence beside the leaves rustling on the trees with every small gush of wind passing by. However, this didn't last as long as you wished.
Kotetsu and Izumo, the two boys that monitored everyone who came and left the village were walking into the forest. Their speaking became louder and louder the closer they got but that didn't bother you in the slightest. You were fast asleep, so two measly boys weren't going to wake you up when you'd been pursued by two much, much worse boys.
"Who is she?" Kotetsu pointed at your sleeping figure.
"I don't know. Is she dead?"
"No, she's asleep I think."
"Hey you, wake up."
You didn't respond.
Izumo removed the book from your face. "Oh, she's one of Haruka's students."
"Wake up!"
They had no other choice but to resort to force. They poked you and shook you, yet it was futile.
"She actually could be dead! Wake up!"
The sound of their muffled voices disturbing your dream was irritating you. You opened your eyes, staring straight ahead which scared the two men.
"What?" You questioned, voice still laced with sleepiness. You rubbed your eyes, opening your mouth to yawn.
Kotetsu sighed in relief. "Thank goodness you're alive. You weren't waking up."
"Well, I was breathing."
"Yeah, but—..."
"You need to go home or somewhere secluded. There's no telling what any rivaling villages have up their sleeve, so it's not exactly safe to just be out in the open even though it seems that way."
"Fine."
You stood up, not bothering to stretch because you simply were too tired to do so. Izumo handed you the diary and you slowly walked away with your head down. You dragged your feet along the grass, still not properly regaining consciousness as you should have. You were struggling to stand up straight with every step you took. The boys watched you as you left the forest, contemplating whether or not they should help you.
