chapter thirty ;; prediction

Do you think your child is going to change what you have with Y/n?

You sat there, still staring at the sky. You were processing his words. However, Neji thought differently. It felt as if your seconds of silence lasted for hours. Were you thinking of a way to reject him? Could it have been that something he did make you not like him?

Though, truthfully, you forgot what it meant.

Neji's face was red. He was slowly letting go of your hand, but you squeezed it tightly upon realizing that he was letting go. Yet, you were still staring at the sky.

"I—, uh, I-I'm sorry. I don't know what... that was. J-Just ignore it."

"Huh." You hummed. "Isn't it... I can die happy? Right?"

His eyes dilated. His quickened heart rate was beginning to slow back to normal, a sigh escaping his lips. He was... happy. You brought him the peace he desired. You were smiling at him with such a gentle expression.

"I love you." He held your hand, kissing the back of it.

"I love you more." You giggled.

"Please, be my girlfriend. I promise I'll treat you well."

"Of course, I'll be your girlfriend. I know that you—."

He cut you off by pressing a kiss to your lips, one that allowed him to spill his emotions out onto you. He could finally do it freely. Your lips were so soft and irresistible, it was hard to let go. He could feel you smiling into the kiss. It was cute.

The night ended with you two stargazing until you'd fallen asleep on his shoulder. He then took you home, where he had to unfortunately face Masagi.

"And where've you been with her?"

"The Hokage's faces."

"Long past her curfew, isn't it?"

"...She has a curfew?"

"Only because of you."

"Ah—... why?"

"If I'm not mistaken, you're the one who got my dau—," He paused, clearing his throat. "Y/n drunk. Are you not?"

"Were you about to call her your daughter just now?"

"N-No! No, I was not!"

"That's... definitely what I heard."

"W-Well, you're hearing wrong! Go get your ears checked, dumb— stupid— idiot— Hyuga! G-Go home!" Masagi's face was red as he pushed Neji out of the house, quickly closing the door in his face.

Neji could only smile at Masagi's embarrassment, heading home himself after the long night.

The next day felt so unreal. Neji felt good. He was in high spirits. He'd smile at people who spoke to him, he'd show more details in his expression than normal. He'd allow himself to treat everyone nicer than he typically did.

Meanwhile, you were still asleep. You were letting yourself rest after losing hours of sleep because of your separation from Neji, so now you could finally relax in peace knowing that you two were okay and literally dating.
