chapter one ;; hatred

❝  I can see right through you—, literally.

That smile, the ever so rare smile on his face that'd never been shown to you. It touched your heart.

His white eyes, the sunlight glistening on his orbs as his calloused hand was extended with the intent for presumably you to intertwine your softer fingers with his. Those long, brown, silky strands of hair flowed with the warm breeze brushing past them, along with the hundreds—, no, thousands, of flowers spread across the field.

Wait.

That's not right.

You hate him.

You hate his dumb white eyes, his stupid brown hair, and his likely ugly smile that you felt as if you were blessed to have never seen thus far.

"Ugh!" You groaned rather loudly, your verbal irritation slightly echoing throughout the forest you were in.

You banged your fist against your temple, and as a result, you almost slipped on the branch you were standing on. You sighed heavily, shaking your head and forcing yourself to concentrate.

You chose to do some training of your own, feeling as though the training you'd already done hadn't helped at all. You were balancing your chakra after feeling an odd sensation of unbalance for the past week.

bal·ance
/ˈbaləns/

noun
1. a condition in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions.
"it is required that y/n keeps her chakras balanced, or else something that is preferred to not speak into existence will happen."

Yeah, that sounds about right.

The thinnest branch on the tree is where you stood, and not even the slight cracks of the wood that resonated through your eardrums fazed you. However, the kunai flying your way did, resulting in you somewhat dodging it, but at what cost?

You felt the sharp graze of the pointy kunai fly past your cheek, your leg slipping from the tree. You landed on your feet, feeling the pain shift up your body. Well, all of that and you ended up with a sprained right ankle.

Though, a sprained ankle is nothing if you choose to be a ninja. It's also nothing when your life is in danger and you have to fight for your survival.

However, the culprits were none other than a familiar team, team three. Team three consisted of Neji Hyuga, Rock Lee, and Tenten. You'd known that when you saw them rushing toward the tall tree, looking up and not even noticing your presence until you stood up.

"Y/n? It's a surprise seeing you here. What're you doing?" Lee questioned, almost immediately noticing the newly formed cut on your cheek.

"Well, if you must know, I was training on that broken tree branch to balance my chakra, but your little kunai came flying towards me. Now my ankle is sprained, and now you just broke off a piece of that tree." You said with a grunt, stumbling a bit from the pain. Despite that, your face had the same stoic expression.

"We're sorry!" Lee immediately bowed.

"Lee, you're the one who threw the knife," Tenten muttered.

"Well—, I'm sorry!"

"It's fine. I'll just go train somewhere else." You shrugged, narrowing your eyebrows when you took a step forward.
