chapter seventeen ;; sake

I just want you to be comfortable around me. We're friends, right?

Tenten made a mistake to underestimate you the way she did. Sure, your body was covered in kunai and shuriken from her scrolls, but you were far too tough for that to have any effect on you. She thought she had the upper hand with the way blood spilled from the newly formed wounds, but that hadn't slowed you down in the slightest.

Meanwhile, she was at her limit. She was panting, sweating, and barely able to stand up on her own two feet. However, she didn't want to seem weak in front of you or Neji, so she continued to push herself.

Saya sat on a log, her leg bouncing in anxiousness at the sight of your body pierced with so many weapons. She was ready for you to come down and allow her to heal you so she could make you all better. You stood about ten feet away, picking the sharp weapons out of your skin.

"What's wrong? Can't get up? Need help?" You questioned with the most stoic expression, almost seeming as if you were serious about helping her.

"I don't need—... your help." She grunted in pain as she got into her fighting stance.

"Are you sure? You look like you're struggling."

"Y/n, I don't know what you have against Tenten but leave her be. She obviously is at her limit." Neji suddenly spoke up.

A vein grew in Saya's forehead. "Don't tell her what to do, blind boy."

"...I'm quite the opposite."

"Shut up!" She raised her voice.

"Why're you yelling?"

"Why're you still talking?"

He sighed. You knew Tenten couldn't handle anymore, so there was no need to embarrass her in front of everyone when you didn't exactly have a problem with her to begin with. You walked toward Saya while continuing to take out the kunai and shuriken. She immediately went to healing your wounds, relieved that you were completely fine.

"Hey, Saya, could you heal Tenten as well?" Neji asked.

She held up her middle finger to him. There was only so much chakra a child could produce, and she'd done a great amount for her age. However, she had none to spare for the likes of Tenten.

"Y/n, control your kid."

"Sister." You corrected.

Eventually, your bleeding stopped. She cleaned your wounds and wrapped them up, allowing you to do whatever you wanted from there. You chose to approach Toshiro, sitting on his back as he'd done his push-ups like he asked you to. He'd gotten used to Saya's weight, so it was easy for him to get in a hundred push-ups with her on his back. However, he'd finally begun to ask you, which you denied multiple times until it got annoying and you agreed.

There was an oddly familiar voice in your head telling you not to get too close to 'that girl' which in this case, you assumed was Tenten. You could recall the voice as the same one you heard back then, telling you to visit Neji in the hospital. You were sure if you hadn't met him there, your relationship would have been drastically different from how it currently is.

You could decipher that the voice was none other than your mother.

The day slowly passed by. You, Toshiro, and Saya had managed to get a good workout in. You chose to leave about three hours in because Tenten was annoying you, and you didn't want to snap at her in front of everyone. So, you three headed home. Though, you chose to go back out for a while, and you could feel yourself being followed until sunset. You absolutely despised the feeling of being watched or trailed, so you chose to confront the person spying on you.
