chapter nineteen ;; a date with team three
❝ Um—! I...I l-love you, too. ❞
Neji was conflicted. He didn't know if he wanted to cry or die. He'd remembered every second from the night before, and he felt so embarrassed, awkward, mad with himself, every negative emotion there was. He was in his bed, face in his pillow as he grasped his hair. He probably made you so uncomfortable, he felt horrible. Neji knew he had to apologize sooner or later, but he wasn't sure when you were available.
"What if... she hates me again?"
Meanwhile, when you were sober, you'd been given the option to be grounded until your birthday, or clean your entire residence. Being grounded would consist of having no source of entertainment, getting no money, being forced to go on low ranked missions with children, and not being able to go outside unless it was to train. However, cleaning, was to sweep and mop the floors, clean every surface of the house, clean every room which included Masagi's and Saya's, care for the plants, and overall just give the residence a deep clean like it deserved. You chose to clean.
It seemed like a good idea at first, you'd be done in no time. You were quick, despite all the things that needed to be done. However, Masagi was extremely... petty, when he was mad. He'd do things just to get a rise out of you, like dirtying a cup right after you finished cleaning dishes, spilling a drink on the ground right after you finished mopping, messing up his tidily made bed just for you to remake it, the list goes on.
You sighed, leaning against the counter to get a breather. You'd just finished sweeping every floor there was, so now you needed a break. However, you heard a door close, specifically the front door. You watched as Masagi stepped inside, with shoes on, trailing dirt behind him. Visible irk marks began to pop up on your face and hands as your eye twitched in annoyance.
You'd already swept and mopped twice, so now this was about to be your third time.
He wanted to see you angry. He wanted you to yell at him so he could ground you like he preferred to do in the first place. However, he was nice enough to give you a choice.
"Masa—." You were so close to snapping, but you caught yourself.
"What was that?" He asked.
"Nothing! Please get out!" You pleaded.
He smiled. "Your wish is my command, Lady Y/n."
He continued to smile at you, stomping his feet on the ground to get every speck of dirt out of his shoes.
You were in for a long, long day.
After hours of cleaning, you left the residence practically sparkling. Your arms were sore from the repeated scrubbing, sweeping, and mopping you'd done. However, you wanted to get out and do something. It was the weekend, so you wanted to have fun. The first thing that came to mind was going shopping, so that's what you chose to do.
You got dressed, then choosing to visit Masagi before you left. Although you typically left without saying anything, you'd want to at least let him know before you left so you wouldn't have him worry, or get in trouble again.
"...Masagi?" You called out softly, knuckles knocking at the door of his office.
"Hmm?" He hummed, yet, not looking up at you because he was too immersed in his studies.
