chapter nine ;; secret

What're you hiding from me, Y/n?

His question made you pause. Although you'd already told them it was none of their business, he still continued to pursue you. You knew Toshiro was a bit of a nosy guy, but he was also very talkative. However, you chose to just give in and tell him, because you knew he was going to continue to ask if he didn't.

"...That man was my brother."

"Oh—, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked."

"No, it's fine, I guess. Come on though. I'm getting hungrier."

"Here, get on my back. Don't need you strainin' your ankle more." He smiled.

You couldn't decline his offer, so you climbed onto his back, wrapping your legs around his waist and your arms around his shoulders. He had a tight grasp on your thighs to reassure you that he would(n't) drop you, and jumped into the trees.

He stayed quiet, presumably lost in his thoughts just like you were. Though, he likely was thinking about what he was going to order by the time he got to his favorite ramen shop. However, you were resting your head in the crook of his neck, thinking about something totally different.

There was a scent lingering around Toshiro's skin and clothes, and it smelled nice. It was a gentle sweet, but musky smell; and it brought you peace, along with how warm he was. It felt like you were giving him a long hug.

"Toshiro..." You spoke into his shoulder, voice muffled.

"Mmh?"

"M'sorry..." Your voice sounded genuine, but Toshiro was confused about what you were apologizing for.

"Um... it's okay?"

You nodded your head, burying your face deeper into his shoulder.

After several minutes of silence went by, the two of you had arrived at your residence. He'd kept you on his back until he reached your bedroom, and he gently placed you down on your bed.

"Do you, uh..." He cleared his throat. "Need help? I'm not trying to be weird or anything—! I just..."

You giggled. "No, it's okay. You can wait in the living room or courtyard."

"Mkay."

He turned on his heels, walking out of your bedroom. He closed the door behind him, leaving you alone to change. However, it proved to be a bit of a struggle with one arm broken and the other being stitched.

During your days in and out of the hospital, you only allowed Masagi to help you with everything, including changing your clothing. You thought you'd be fine since you managed to shimmy out of your pants once, but apparently not.

So, when Toshiro waited a couple of minutes, sitting beside your door just in case you did need help and not to be weird, he heard your pained voice cursing and groaning.

Though, after a while, he began to get concerned with all of your yelling. He'd chosen to wait a couple more seconds before checking up on you, but you went quiet. Then, he was left to wait for a good thirty more minutes.

He banged on your bedroom door, not only out of worry, but because he was also getting impatient.

"What the hell are you doing in there?!"
