CHAPTER 28

Continuation of Flashback.......

I was woken up with the sound of soft knocks on my door. I checked the time on my table clock and it's only 6:00AM. The knock is getting louder as minutes pass by and it's giving me a headache. It's only been a few hours since I slept. I begrudgingly picked myself up from my bed and headed to the towards the door. In my half-asleep state I opened the door only to be stunned. Standing right in front of me is Mrs. Lee in a silk robe with a very solemn expression. I immediately bowed my head to avoid her gaze and I took a step back in precaution of another attack as the memories of what happened last night came to mind.

"Goo- Good Morning ma'am!" I greeted, but there was no response. Wondering what could be the problem, I slowly raised my head to see her face. I can see her conflicted look. She cleared her throat and sighed before she spoke up.

"I am sorry for last night. I was not in my right mind." Shock is an understatement. I never imagine for someone like her to apologize to someone like me that easily. I can't believe what I just heard. Did she just apologized to me?

"I am also sorry for breaking your phone." She apologized again as she handed me a paper bag. I raised my head and gave her a questioning look. What is in that paper bag?

"Just take it." She shoved the paper bag in my hands before she turned around and walked away. What did just happened? Am I still dreaming? She apologized to me twice today after pulling my hair last night? Crazy!

"You better get ready, we will be heading out to the company by 8:30am!" I heard her say before she went downstairs. It took me a few minutes to gather my senses together. I went back inside my room and curiously opened the paper bag. It's a new phone very similar to the one given to me by Yoongi. I suddenly felt longing for Yoongi. I miss him so bad. I really want to tell him my current situation but I don't want to give him more to think about. I removed my sim card from my old phone and transferred it to the new one. I want to call him. I want to hear his voice. Hearing his voice will be enough.

I was waiting anxiously as the phone starts up and to be disappointed when it said, "No Sim Card Detected." I felt my world almost fall apart. How can I contact him now? I didn't memorized his number. What should I do? Maybe, I could find a way to get it fixed but for now, I have to get ready before his wife will come nagging at me for being late.

The moment my father brought me to the company, I know that from that moment on, my life will completely change. He held a meeting and introduced me as his long lost daughter, saying that my mother hid me from him, and that I am the rightful heir of the company. Most of the men inside the room don't look too happy. I honestly feel scared standing right in front of a lot of men under their scrutinizing gaze. I feel like a science specimen with the way they look at me, and it makes me feel uncomfortable but nevertheless they accepted me as a new member of the company.

I was busy learning the how the company works until three weeks has passed and I wasn't even aware of it. My father keeps dragging me to endless meetings with a lot of people saying that it is all important for the company. I feel so tired and drained. I am not used to fake smiling to people I just met. I am not a very sociable person, but for the last three weeks I forced myself to be as sociable as I can. But at times, I don't get myself, why am I even doing this? Sometimes, I feel like I just want to get out, but seeing the proud and happy look on my father's face gives me a good feeling that I feel like I don't want to disappoint him. But then again, the thoughts about what I heard a few weeks ago keeps on popping in my mind. Are they all doing this because of what my grandmother left me? I am actually waiting for them to open up about the inheritance I heard accidentally that night when Ms. Lee attacked me, but up to now, no one said anything about it.
