Chapter 2

Mitsuki got up to open the door when the doorbell rang. She wasn't expecting anyone, so she thought it would be some sort of sales person. She swung the door open and said, "Listen, I don't want whatever you're sell-..." she looked at who it was, "Katsuki?"

"Hey, mom..." he sighed.

"Gramma..." Nozomi sniffled.

She looked down at the girls before back at Katsuki. She furrowed her eyebrows. "Where's Eijir... Oh, Katsuki, where's Eijirou?"

"Can you watch the girls for a night or two...?" Katsuki asked, not answering her question.

"Of course. You know we always will. But before you go, please tell me what happened," she said, looking down to the two girls in front of Katsuki.

"Papa's gonna die!!" Sachiko sobbed, running to Mitsuki and hugging her thigh.

Her head snapped back up and her eyes widened. "He's.. what?!"

Katsuki crouched by Sachiko and ran his hand up and down her back, "Sachi, I already told you, we're not sure of that. Papa's doing all he can to stay here with you girls, and you know that."

Mitsuki picked Sachiko up and stepped back. "Come in and tell me what's happening," she said.

Katsuki lifted Nozomi and carried her inside. He walked her to the dining room and set her down, telling her gently, "Honey, can you go find Grandpa and tell him that Daddy is with Grandma in the living room?"

"Okay daddy..." she mumbled, walking out of the room.

He sighed and walked to the living room, laying down on the couch and putting his arms over his eyes, crying silently. "Katsuki, what happened..." Mitsuki asked from behind the couch.

"I only have a few minutes till I should go back... Eijirou is in the hospital. Got in a bad fight that he wasn't ready for," he huffed, lowering his arms to his bump.

"Oh, sweetheart... How bad is it?"

His voice cracked as he whispered, "He might not make it through the night... The girls had to say goodbye to him. I told them it might be the last time and- and it broke my heart to watch them cry like that..."

Mitsuki rounded the couch and crouched next to him, hugging around his shoulders. He turned on his side and hugged her back, sobbing loudly into his shoulder. "He-he promised he'd be more careful! He promised he wouldn't leave me!" he cried.

"Shh.... I know, Katsuki... Mommy's here.. Shh.." she hushed, "Just let it out, honey. It's all gonna be okay."

"But what if it isn't okay, mom? What if he leaves me forever? I can't do this without him... I need him, mom..."

She squeezed him and kissed his head. "You're strong. You'll pull through, I know it."

"You staying over tonight?" Asami asked when Katsuki walked into the room with a small bag.

"Yeah... I want to be here if anything happens.." he sighed.

"Alright. There's a pull out couch that you can sleep on. I can get it made up for you if you'd like."

"That would be good, thank you," he said, sitting on the side of Eijirou's bed. While he had been gone, Eijirou's breathing machine had been changed. Instead over a mask of both his nose and mouth, he had tubes in his nose. Katsuki smiled sadly and gently kissed him, running his hands gently through his hair. He pulled back and moved to rest his head in between his shoulder and his neck. He gently grabbed his hand, being mindful of his broken wrist, and placed it on his bump. "If you go tonight..." he whispered in his ear, "I want you to have felt the babies move..."
