Chapter 45

Eijirou knocked on his in-laws' door. It swung upon after, showing a worn out Mitsuki Bakugou. Her face fell slightly when the person she saw was only Eijirou. She smiled again after a second. "Eijirou, hello," she sighed.

"Hey, Mitsuki. Can I come in? I wanted to check on you and Masaru. I was also hoping I could grab a snack... I didn't exactly have lunch or dinner."

"It's eight PM, Eijirou! And you only ate breakfast? Oh, you delinquent. Come in, come in," she huffed, shuffling out of the way for him to come in.

Eijirou stepped into the house and sighed. It smelled a bit like Katsuki. Not a whole lot, because it was really only the smell of Katsuki's parents, but it was something. His own house smelled more like Katsuki than this, in reality, but after being out all day, it was still nice.

"We came around earlier. To wish the boys a happy birthday. You weren't there, Mina answered the door. We did spend a few minutes with our grandsons, though. Mina said you were searching for him. From the looks of you, you didn't find him. Did you find any more leads?"

"No," he sighed, "I just know he and Miki aren't in any of the spots we had leads for. And I didnt come up with any more leads from that."

"Damn. Okay. If you're lucky, Masaru hasn't put away dinner yet. I can make you a bowl, then drive you home," Mitsuki said, "I'm sure the Seros are tired of your kids' bullshit."

"My moms are there too," Eijirou said, "Didn't you see them when you went?"

"Oh, yeah, but they said they were leaving after dinner, so I'm sure they've left by now."

"Oh," Eijirou said, "Fair point. You know, I haven't looked at Katsuki's baby pictures in a while... and he's not here to yank the pictures out of our hands and try to explode them so... maybe you can show me some of your photo albums?"

"Of course! You know how much I love gushing about cute baby Katsuki!" Mitsuki laughed. Her smile dropped into a smaller, sadder smile. "I've been handling the kidnapping pretty well. But I'm not sure if I can keep it up seeing pictures of him. I want to look through them with you, though, and we're going to. But if I cry... It's because I miss my baby boy. Masaru hasn't been taking things as well. He's never been very good at dealing with these things, you know."

Eijirou nodded. "So that food..."

"Awww... Oh, Sachiko looks so much like Katsuki when he was her age! Nozomi has his resting bitch face though. Wow, he even had that then.." Eijirou gushed over a picture of Katsuki on the swings of park when he was seven. On the swing next to him was Midoriya, smiling widely at Katsuki. Katsuki, even though he was on the swings, looked angry and bored.

Mitsuki flipped to another page, tears in her eyes but a smile on her face. "Ah, here's a first year high school picture! I caught him smiling after the first day at UA and snapped a picture. He was talking to himself, too. Saying something about some 'annoyingly handsome asshole shitty haired redhead'," she snickered.

"Really? I didn't know he had his eyes on me for that long before we started dating."

"Oh, he had his eyes on you for a while. Those few times that he'd let you walk him home from school before there were dorms, he'd come in being the most bubbly and happy I'd ever seen him. Of course, I've seen him more bubbly and happy now. And even then, to an untrained eye, he really didn't look much different. But I knew. And I knew it was because of you, too. He only looked that way after you dropped him off. One day, he came home from school, and thought he was alone. I was sitting in the living room, and I just heard him say to himself something like 'Fucking Eijirou Kirishima and his adorable face and smile and fucking hot voice- fuck him for making me fall in love.' I walked in afterwards and had a nice little talk with him about you. He came out to me as gay then, but I'd known for a while. He'd been in love with you since the first moment you talked to him. That was also the same time I gave him the talk, because he went on a rant about how hot you were and how he got this," she made air quotes, "'Weird tingly feeling' in his stomach around you."
