Chapter 29

Katsuki took a deep breath in, the heart rate monitor starting to beep consistently once more. He blinked twice to get the blurriness out of his eyes. He heard a gasp and a loud sob from above him, focusing his gaze on his husband above him. He gave him a cheeky smirk.

"Honey, I'm home," he whispered, lifting his arm from one of his baby's backs, which, by the way, were fully unfazed by the whole ordeal, and grazed his fingers along Eijirou's jawline.

Eijirou ducked down and kissed him hard. It was a horrible kiss, honestly, with all of Eijirou's messy sobbing and crying. Katsuki chuckled softly against him, gently rubbing his thumb over the stubble on his jaw. Eijirou pulled back, just to look at him breathing.

"You're alive. Oh, fuck, Katsuki, you're alive," he cried, "Katsuki, you died! You just- You just fucking died! Oh god, I just watched you die!"

"Shh..." Katsuki cooed, bringing his other hand to caress his cheek, "I know.. Was probably scary, right? But I'm back. I'm here now..."

"I'm gonna call in the doctors, okay? Don't die on me again while I'm doing this," Eijirou breathed.

"I won't. Gimme another kiss," he ordered.

"Yes, dear," he teased slightly, leaning in to give on a needy kiss.

"It's like you forgot I was here! That scared me too, brat!" Mitsuki sniffled.

Katsuki pulled back from Eijirou and looked over at her with an apologetic smile. "Want a hug?"

"Yes."

Eijirou awoke, the morning sun and the smell of cinnamon buns and orange juice filled his senses. He heard birds singing outside. What he didn't hear was the heart rate monitor. 'Of course,' he though, 'Katsuki wasn't going to make it through the night. Him dying and coming back earlier didn't mean anything.'

"Morning, hun."

Eijirou looked over at the hospital bed next to him. Katsuki was sitting up, smiling over at him. He had a tray across his lap, holding a cinnamon bun and a cup of orange juice. He still had a drip connected to his arm, but the heart rate monitor was nowhere to be seen. Eijirou sniffled, tears pooling in his eyes.

"Morning, sweetheart," Eijirou said, his voice cracking.

Katsuki was obviously suppressing a laugh. "You're wondering how I'm alive, aren't you?"

"I mean, yeah! From my understanding you were going to die in the middle of the night!" Eijirou said, confused and a little agitated that everything kept changing and messing with his emotions.

"Well, they were coming in to make sure I hadn't died like every hour so I got no sleep," he said, "I'm surprised you didn't wake up. Anyway, about an hour ago my vitals went fully back to normal and I stopped bleeding. They had run some tests on the blades at forensics. Not poisoned. And if I was to get an infection I would've gotten it already and I haven't. And, my organs are all fine. So basically, I won't die and they were able to take away the vitals monitor because they're no longer worried about that."

Tears dripped from Eijirou's eyes and he stood, a wide smile on his face. "Katsuki! That's fantastic! Everyone's gonna be so happy! I'm so happy!" He bounced over to his husband and held his face in his hands. "I really thought I was going to lose you. Katsuki, I really don't know what I would've done either myself. I don't even know how to function properly without you."
