Chapter 40Katsuki woke up with a blaring headache. He opened his eyes, but didn't give himself enough time to take in his surroundings before he was leaning over and throwing up. He leaned back and dropped his head onto his pillow, which felt suspiciously less cushioned than normal. He only then started to realize what was happening around him. He heard a baby crying, closer than a few rooms away. Maybe Eijirou brought one of the kids into their room to calm them down? But then he realized that normally, when he threw up off the side of the bed unexpectedly, Eijirou would rush over and rub his back and ask him if he was okay. Then he'd take him to the bathroom and sit there with him for a little bit to make sure he wouldn't throw up again.
But Eijirou wasn't next to him, and he couldn't hear him around their room.
"Eijirou..." he called out weakly, "Don't think I can go to work today..." he groaned.
When he got no response, he opened his eyes. Things were mostly blurry, but he could tell he was definitely not at home. He blinked a few times to get his vision back, and it worked mostly, so he took a better look around.
He was in a small room, the walls, the ceiling, and the floor were made of cement. There was a big metal door without a doorknob on the right wall. On the left wall, all the way toward the ceiling, there was a small window with bars on the outside of the glass. It was way to far up for Katsuki to reach. Across from him a little to the right was a toilet, but there was nothing to give privacy to him if he were to use it. Next to it was a large pile of packaged diapers. Other than that, the room was empty. He looked down and saw Miki, pressed against his chest and stomach, crying.
"Oh, baby, shh.." he said. His voice was slightly raspy, and he couldn't figure out why his throat hurt. Miki kept crying, nuzzling her face into his chest. "When was the last time you ate, huh? What... What time is it? And where are we? And why are we here..?" he sighed, "Like you'd know, you're not even a year old."
Katsuki pulled up his tank top. He didn't even have to guide his daughter to his chest, because she latched on almost instantly. "Oh, you're very hungry then..." he sighed. He gently picked her up and sat them up. He looked down at where he had been laying. There was a very thin pillow with no pillow case and a blanket below him. He looked over to his legs and saw that there was another blanket over them.He heard the door open and turned his attention to that. Kaisha walked in. The intern put a wood block between the door and the doorway to keep it propped open. He sighed and stood in front of the door.
"Kaisha..?" Katsuki said, "What's going on?"
Kaisha laughed. "You're so gullible! Damn!"
"What..."
"Okay, okay, so first! I'm a villain! Bet you didn't see that coming!"
"Fuck," Katsuki sighed.
"So, you and little Miki there have been taken hostage. You're at our base right now. And no one has any idea where you are, so you're not being saved," Kaisha said.
"Was anything you said true? When you told me about yourself.."
"Well, yeah, actually. I'm a pretty good actor though, don't you think? You're the reason I became a villain though, not a hero. I always thought you'd be better suited for villainy, but you never saw it yourself. It made me a bit angry, actually. You could've done so many better things if you didn't have a stupid moral code and agreement with the law!"
"Fine. Why am I here then?" Katsuki asked.
"Do you remember last night?" Kaisha wondered, "They hit you pretty hard in the head, so maybe not."
"Last night..." Katsuki tried to think. It was lost on him for a few seconds before his eyes widened. He remembered. "Shit."
"Yeah. We need your kids. Though, I assume you know that since you've seen that we've been targeting them for months. Since they were made from that quirk, we think there's something special about them. Something different from other kids. We need that for ourselves, for bigger projects. We thought the older ones would be lost causes already, but I think we can still get in their minds. It was just luck that we got Miki here. We needed you, and we were hoping for one of the babies too, but when we found you two it was like some sort of a prize bundle! Anyway, I want you and your husband to suffer. You could've done so much more with your life, but you didn't. And your husband, well, he murdered a bunch of my men. At first I just wanted you both dead, suffering or not, but now that I've thought it through, I want you to suffer. I know he's not much without you, and especially trying to care for four children by himself, he'll eventually break. It'll give us a prime opportunity to off him and take your kids. And you'll have to watch, before we inevitably kill you too. That'll all be after the triplets are weaned, of course, we'd be too obvious if we had to go out and buy formula to feed them ourselves. We don't know which ones of us your people know. And why waste our precious resources?"
"You're a monster," Katsuki hissed, "So what? Are you going to starve me and watch me die?"
"Nah, that's boring. We have something more creative planned for your death. For now, we need you alive. So, you'll get fed. And if you starve yourself, you're effectively starving poor Miki too, since we're not feeding her till she doesn't drink breast milk anymore," Kaisha said.
Katsuki had nothing to say. He glared at the boy in front of him.
"Well! I have other shit to do, so bye! Have fun!" he said cheerfully, before walking out and slamming the door shut behind him.

Eijirou sat on the Sero's couch. He had a heartbroken and hopeless look on his face. "Hey, don't worry, dude, we'll find him in no time," Denki said, handing him a plate of pancakes.
"He's gone.. I couldn't protect him... I told him I'd always protect him. I told him I'd keep him safe... What if they're hurting him, Denki? What if he's in pain..? What if he's scared? What if he's lonely?" Eijirou ranted, not even picking at the pancakes.
"He has Miki," Denki tried, "She'll keep him company..."
"Miki... She's probably scared too. And hungry. What if they separated them? What if they're taunting Katsuki with Miki? What if Miki misses her Papa? She likes it when I hold her while she wakes up.." he sniffled, "What if Katsuki had a nightmare last night and I wasn't there to comfort him?"
"You know everyone's out looking for him. It's all over the news, so civilians are on high alert for him, too. Everything's happening that can possibly happen to find him. You always tell Katsuki to take things one step at a time and not try to control the uncontrollable, right? Just take it as it comes," Hanta tried, holding Rini in his arms and feeding her. He sat next to Eijirou on the couch.
"It's hard to follow my own advice. If he told me it I'd probably listen though... he's convincing like that..." Eijirou sighed, "Yeah. I know we're doing all that we can, but I wish we could do more, that's all. I just miss him already and I don't want this feeling to go on any longer. I miss Miki too! But I know she's probably with Katsuki, and he'll keep her safe... I just don't know how well Katsuki can take care of Miki and himself. He'll put her before himself in any situation, even if it means he dies... I want him to be safe..."
"Katsuki's a smart dude. He'll figure something out to keep them safe. Just try and be there for your kids for now," Mina said from across the coffee table.
"Can I feed Rini?" Eijirou asked Hanta, "Arakan and Takeo won't be bottle fed again till lunch. I put Kat's bottles in the fridge. They're labeled, don't worry. Just don't get them mixed up with Mina's. The boys get snacks a few hours before lunch... usually some cereal or something. Shit, I don't have enough bottles to last more than three-ish days. If Kat's not back by then..."
"We'll cross that bridge when we get to it," Hanta said. He passed Rini to Eijirou, "You know how to feed a baby, I'm not gonna stupidly explain it."
"Yeah, I've fed a lot of babies in the last seven years of my life."
"Seven? Aren't the girls only six?" Denki asked.
"Well, yeah, but they'll be seven in like a month... The babies will be one in two months," Eijirou said.
"Shit. They're growing so fast! I thought they just turned six! I guess that was when you were in the hospital though, and that was nearly a year ago... Damn! I feel old now! I remember when those little ones were just little white dots on a piece of paper!" Mina laughed.
"How do you think I feel? I was there when they were born. I heard their first cries, their first.. Everything! I've been here watching them grow all those seven years and... It still feels like they were those little crying newborns just yesterday. I'm gonna blink and they'll be going off to college or getting married and having kids," Eijirou sighed, "You'll feel the same with this little girl," he said, nodding to Rini, "You'll realize when she's four or something that you have no idea what happened in the last four years, and you haven't even had time to savor the little things with the busyness of parenting. Seriously, take pictures and videos of everything. Write down funny things she says. You won't remember it in the future."
"Wise words from an expert like yourself, thank you," Denki joked.
"I am something of an expert though, aren't I? With all these kids Katsuki's popped out, I gotta take some responsibility in caring for them," Eijirou said with a small laugh. The Sero's always helped cheer him up.
