Chapter 43

One week later

Eijirou knocked on the girls' door before opening it gently. "Sachiko, Nozomi.. Happy birthday!" he said. He walked over and squatted between their beds. "C'mon, get up! I have breakfast ready for you on the table!"

Sachiko groaned and sat up. "Did you make it? Because if you did, I don't want it."

Eijirou laughed. "No, sweetie. Daddy made it."

"Daddy made it? He's back?!" she squealed.

"Yeah. He came back last night. He wanted to surprise you for your birthday," he said.

Sachiko quickly got out of bed and ran downstairs in her nightgown. She slid on the tile floor of the kitchen and came to a stop in front of her father. "Daddy!" she yelled, crying tears of joy, "You're back! I missed you so much, Daddy!"

Katsuki crouched down and smiled at her. He brought her into a hug and squeezed her lovingly. "Oh, Sachiko, I missed you too. So much." As he pulled back, his face morphed into the face of the man that told Sachiko to jump off a bridge four months ago. He held onto her arms tightly and his smile turned evil. He started whispering the same vile words to her that he did months ago.

She sobbed and tried to pull her arms out of his grasp, only to shoot up in her bed in a cold sweat. She shook and cried, burying her face in her hands.

"Hey, hey, baby girl, shh.." Eijirou whispered, pulling her against his chest, "What's wrong? It's your birthday, we can't have you crying!" He moved over on her bed so she could rest against him better.

"I had a bad dream," she cried, hugging him and pushing her face into his chest.

"Oh, baby, I'm sorry. Wanna tell me what it was about?" Eijirou soothed.

She nodded. "Daddy was there.. He made us breakfast. But then he turned into the mean man that told me the mean things a while ago. And he told me the mean things again... I really thought Daddy was home, Papa.."

"I'm sorry, sweetheart. I wish Daddy was home too. We're gonna bring him home soon. Breakfast is ready downstairs, if you're hungry."

"Did you make it?" she asked.

Eijirou laughed. "No, I wouldn't do that to you two on your birthday. Uncle Hanta made it. Scrambled eggs and avocado toast with tomato. The way you like it."

She pulled back from his chest and smiled. "With the pink salt?!"

"Yeah, baby, with the pink salt."

She gasped and quickly got out of bed. "I need something to wear for our party! Wake up Zomi so she can help me, please! Daddy says you have no sense of style, so I don't want you to help me, sorry Papa."

"I'm already awake since you're so loud," Nozomi said, hopping out of bed to go help her sister coordinate outfits.

Eijirou laughed. "Now, girls, you know your party is only going to be boring old adults. There won't be any of your friends there to impress. It's for your safe-"

"We know, Papa," Nozomi said, "Plus, our friends already know that we're fucking awesome-"

"Language," Sachiko chided.

Eijirou snickered, "That's my line."

"Well, I'm right! They know we're cool, so we don't need to impress them anymore. But your friends still see us as babies! We're seven, not three! So we gotta show them that we're badass and cool like them. Also, sometimes your friends are more fun than our friends.. They have funny stories of Daddy and they don't treat us differently cuz we have two dads that are both heroes."
