Chapter 41
Three days later
"Hey, Mina," Eijirou said from the doorway, "Do you have like an hour to spare?"
"Yeah, totally! What's up?" she asked, getting up from her bed and walking to meet Eijirou at the door.
"I need to go to the store, and I didn't want to go alone," he said sheepishly.
"Sure, I'll go with you! The boys can watch the kids while we're out. I have some stuff I'd like to grab, too. What do you need to get?"
"Uhm... Formula?"
"Formula?" Mina asked, not knowing what he meant by that.
"For the boys. Formula. Like, milk formula... I ran out of bottles this morning.." he sighed, "Katsuki normally pumps at work when the babies would be eating so he has enough for them for the next day. And he pumps before bed too, so they have extras if we ever need them. But... he didn't pump before bed when he got taken.. So I only had the extras from that night. They had a whole extra serving though, for this morning, since.. Miki..."
"Oh. Well we'll find the right formula for them. Hopefully we won't have to use it for very long, right?"
"Yeah... I just don't want them to forget what Kat's milk is like.. I don't want them to get a preference for the formula or the bottle while they don't have him..." Eijirou huffed, "But it is what it is."

They stood in front of the many formula options. Eijirou couldn't find it in himself to grab one from the shelf and put it into the cart. It felt like accepting something that he didn't want to accept. It made the fact that Katsuki was missing so much more real.
"I can't do it..." he whispered.
"They won't need it for all that long. We'll find him in no time," Mina reassured him.
"I don't even know what the last thing I said to him was," Eijirou said, "I think I was telling him to go up to bed... because he was tired.. I hope he slept well last night. He's always so cranky when he's tired. But it's kinda cute, too... I really miss him, Mina.. I'm not used to being away from him this long."
"I know. You two have been together forever. Eight years or something, right? He'll be home soon. Let's just focus on getting the formula, okay? Try and focus on what's happening in the moment so you don't get lost in the what ifs."
Eijirou nodded. He took a step forward and grabbed a container of formula.

A day later
"Shh.. shh... Miki, baby, please... I can't help you, I'm sorry.. I've done everything for you that I can! Changed you, fed you, burped you, let you crawl around for a while, I played peek a boo with you, you took a nap.. What else could you want?" Katsuki tried to reason with his ten month old. She just kept screaming and crying. "Miki, please, honey... I'm scared of what they'll do if they start to get annoyed with all the noise you're making."
He looked like he was about to say something else, but he couldn't get it out before he rushed over to the toilet and emptied his stomach into it. He groaned and reached out to grab his daughter and hold her closer. "Ugh.. Miki... I feel like shit right now... I'm so nauseous. Do you think they're giving me rotten food? Or poisoning me, maybe. Ugh, and my joints hurt too. My hips, mostly. And I have a constant crampy feeling in my stomach. Probably from bad food, though. I don't know, kiddo. But I do feel like crap, so that's fantastic."
There was a knock on the door, before it swung open. Kaisha put a stopper in the door and sat in front of it. He placed a tray of food down on the ground in front of him and smiled at Katsuki. "Hey," he said, "I brought you breakfast. Although, it sounds like Miki might need it more than you do."
Katsuki groaned and tried to answer, but had to lean over the toilet to throw up again before any words came out. It was quick enough that he sat back up before Kaisha could walk over to him in worry. He glared at the boy. "You did something to my food. I feel like my stomach is trying to escape my body."
"We didn't do anything to your food," Kaisha said honestly, "We need you, remember?"
"You're lying," he said, "I've been throwing up for the last four days. You did something to it. Drugged me or poisoned me or something."
"Katsuki," he said. Katsuki scoffed at the use of his given name. "We didn't do anything to your food," he repeated, "Is nausea your only symptom?"
Katsuki waited a few seconds to answer. He grabbed Miki and rocked her in his arms, trying to get her to shut the fuck up. Her crying lowered in volume, but not by a lot. He sighed and looked at Kaisha, "No... I keep having to pee, my hips are aching, I have this incessant cramping in my stomach, I'm pretty bloated, I'm getting heartburn, it's kinda hard to breathe sometimes.. My ankles are a bit swollen, I guess, but that might just be from sitting on my ass 24/7. Also, you know, my tits hurt, but I doubt you wanted to hear that part. I'm only breastfeeding a third of the babies I normally do, so that might be it."
"Oh. Hmm... Have you felt this stuff before?" Kaisha said, sounding genuinely kind of concerned.
"Well, yeah, but only while pregnant," Katsuki scoffed.
"Could you... be pregnant?" Kaisha asked, like it was an obvious diagnosis to these symptoms.
"No," Katsuki said, though he didn't actually believe himself. In case he really was pregnant, he didn't want his captors to know. There was no way that would end well. "I can't be. I had my uterus removed months ago. You should know that."
"Hmm... Okay. Well, eat up, we can't have you starving just because of a little nausea. I'm sure it'll pass. You know what? I'll get you an extra fluffy blanket to sleep on. Maybe that will help your hips aching." Kaisha got up and grabbed the door. He opened it and kicked the stopper out into the hall, then walked out. The door slammed shut behind him.
Katsuki sighed. He realized that Miki had stopped crying some time ago. Looking down, he saw that she had fallen asleep. He smiled softly down at her and lifted her to give her a small kiss on the forehead. "Oh, Miki, what're we gonna do..." he sighed, "I'm not gonna let them get at you, I promise. I'm gonna protect you forever." He found himself getting emotional over the idea of one day not being able to protect his kids. Of course, he always got emotional over those sorts of things, but when he started crying he actually surprised himself with his currently overactive emotions. It was probably from hunger or exhaustion, though.

The next night
"Maybe I am pregnant," Katsuki whispered into the silent night. Miki was sound asleep on his chest, but he couldn't seem to drift off, even with the added cushioning under him. "I mean, it's not possible. Obviously. But... But the quirk works in mysterious ways, right? So.. what if it came back after the hysterectomy? How far along would that make me?"
He half expected Eijirou to come out of nowhere and tell him to stop getting his hopes up for being pregnant ever again in his life. But then he came to his senses and remembered he was virtually alone. He sighed and did some mental math. "Well, me and Eijirou haven't had sex in a while. It would probably be from then, since I'm only now feeling the symptoms. Any earlier and it would be impossible to have not felt anything earlier than this week. So... Fifteen weeks? Holy shit.. Maybe I'm not bloated, maybe that's a baby bump..." He knew he sounded crazy, thinking such things and talking to himself, but he didn't care. He carefully removed Miki from his chest and placed her on the empty space of blankets around his feet. He sat on his knees and pulled up his t-shirt. He held it under his chest and looked down. Yeah, he was definitely bloated. If that was what it was.
Then, he felt something that brought tears to his eyes. A fluttering, from inside his stomach. A fluttering he recognized easily.
"Oh fuck," he whispered to his stomach, or, baby bump, "Oh, I'm pregnant. And I'm far enough along to feel you kick, kid."
He let his shirt fall back over his bump and sighed. His hands went up to wipe his wet cheeks and he laughed quietly. "What am I gonna do with this bullshit..."
