Chapter 7

"False alarm, false alarm! You're not even dilated a centimeter. There's no way you're in labor," the nurse said.

"Then why- agh- does it feel like I am?!"

"Well first of all, take some deep breaths and try to calm yourself down," she said, handing him a cup of water, "Take a few sips. I can help you prop your legs up. The combination of the two usually helps Braxton Hicks contractions." She grabbed a few pillows and made them into a pile, putting Katsuki's feet on top of them.

He huffed and mumbled his thanks before saying, "So why do these hurt so much?"

"Probably stress. It could've brought on the contractions and also made them so much worse. I can tell right now everything in your life has been pretty stressful. That and the possibility that you're overworking yourself. With one less parent at home, I know there's more you're having to take on.."

Katsuki sighed. "Damnit... I didn't hurt the babies, right?"

"No, no, babies are fine. But it is hurting you. I know it's hard but try to relax and give yourself a break. You and your body need it," she said, patting his head before walking out of the room.

Eijirou sighed. "Have you given yourself any time to relax?"

"No. Too much to do."

"Katsuki..."

"Don't lecture me. I have work to handle. And the girls, and the babies, and the house, and I have to see you here every day, every time thinking that the nurses are going to tell me I'm gonna be a single dad raising four children-"

"Take a week off, baby," Eijirou recommended.

Katsuki huffed. "I can't take a week off from life."

"Take a week off from work. Drop the girls off at your parent's- or the Sero's. They need time with kids if they're trying to have some themselves. Stay home- don't bother coming to the hospital because you're always expecting bad news and it's stressing you out. I can text you if you want to talk, but for a week I think you shouldn't visit. You can just stay at home- better yet, go to a hotel! Then you won't be absentmindedly doing housework."

Katsuki stared at him for a minute or so before turning to look up at the ceiling. He huffed and wiped at his teary eyes, misunderstanding what Eijirou was trying to do. "You're trying to get rid of me... are you cheating on me?"

"What?! No!!"

"Did you- did you stop loving me after you lost your memory? Have you been faking it all? Did you fall in love with one of the nurses and now you're just trying to get rid of me?"

"No, no!! Honey, Katsuki, no! I love you so so much! I always will! I just- I was just trying to help you rest and relax! Please believe me.."

Katsuki sniffled. "Fine. You were just trying to help, then. But I don't... I don't want to not visit you for a week. Being here with you is the only time I actually get any rest. And I can't take off time from work. I have bills to pay, children to feed."

"Please? If not for you or me, then for the babies. You know, the ones inside you. The ones that could be badly affected by you being so stressed out... Honey, if you keep working so hard you might hurt them. Or make them come early, which can also hurt them.."

He turned his head and looked at his husband, a small, thankful smile grazing his lips. "You care about me..."

"Of course I do. I love you," Eijirou hummed.
