Chapter 3

"Daddy! We got you-.... Daddy, why you crying??" Nozomi asked, running over to him.

"Well.... I'm just gonna say it because keeping secrets from you would be wrong. Papa hit his head really hard and... lost some of his memories..."

"Oh... what does he forget?" she asked, sitting down on the floor.

Katsuki picked her up and sat her on his lap instead. "He.... He forgot you and Sachiko, baby..."

Nozomi stared at him for a few seconds before her eyes started welling up. She buried her face in his chest and started sobbing. Sachiko ran over, concerned. "Zomzom!! Don't cry! Why crying?!"

"Papa forgot about us!!!" she sobbed.

"Papa doesn't... remember us...?" she asked Katsuki.

"Sweetheart... he hit his head hard... so, yeah... he doesn't remember you..."

She also started crying, but instead went over to Eijirou. "Papa...." she cried, grabbing his arm, "I love you, Papa...."

Eijirou looked over at her the best his could while only being able to move his head. He gave her a reassuring smile. "I love you too, kid... even if I don't know you, I know I love you. That's something, right?"

Sachiko frowned and looked back at Katsuki. "Daddy, Papa's weird."

Katsuki laughed slightly and shook his head. "It's because he doesn't know how he acts around you, honey..."

"Kid-" Eijirou started.

"My name is Sachiko," she said sternly.

He nodded, "I see you take after Katsuki more.... Sachiko, how about you come onto the bed and tell me some stories about you, okay? It might help me remember.."

"Actually, I'd rather she doesn't do that. At least not yet," Eijirou's nurse said as she walked into the room.

"Oh... But I want to get to know my daughter..." Eijirou sighed.

"I know. But we need to do an assessment of your neurological state right now. In other words, we need to see what sort of memories you've forgotten and why."

"Oh, alright. Can she tell me stories after?" he asked, wanting to still bond with his daughter.

"Maybe. I'd like to ask that everyone but Mr. Kirishima's husband please leave the room," Asami asked.

"Of course," Mitsuki said, grabbing Nozomi and Sachiko and leading them out of the room with the promise of toys.

"Alright, so," Asami said, gently starting to prop Eijirou up. He winced a few times, but was able to sit up once the bed was up. "I have a few questions to ask you. It's based on information from public records, things I've heard from your husband, and things I've heard from your mother in law. Is it alright if I ask you some of them?"

Eijirou nodded, "Anything to help me remember."

She sat down on a chair next to him. "So, to start us off... What's your name?" she asked, starting a voice recorder before asking the question.

"Eijirou Kirishima," he answered.

"And your husband's name?"

Eijirou smiled over at Katsuki, "Katsuki Kirishima."

"And what are the names of your kids?"

"....Well, Katsuki told about Nozomi and Sachiko... but I still can't really tell which is which. And then- well... These ones aren't alive, but there's Usagi and Daichi," he answered.

"Can you tell me how Usagi and Daichi passed?" she asked.

"Usagi... Usagi was 2 months old when she died in her sleep from SIDS... And Daichi was a miscarriage."

Katsuki sniffled. "I'm sorry for your losses," Asami said, "Can you tell me a bit about Katsuki's pregnancy with Nozomi and Sachiko?"

"Uhm.... I don't... I don't remember any of that... I don't even remember when that was," he sighed.

"That's okay, that's okay. Another question then... What's Sachiko's favorite food?"

"Cake," Eijirou answered, surprising himself. Katsuki smiled. "Wait, was that right?"

"Yeah... she's obsessed with it. Asks for it every night. You always go out-"

"And buy it for her on Sundays so she has enough for the week..." Eijirou filled in.

Katsuki leaned forward and kissed him gently. He waited a few seconds before pulling back and resting his forehead against his. "You remember..."

"No... well, yes... but don't get your hopes up. They might keep coming but I really don't remember any of it..." Eijirou sighed.

Katsuki frowned. "Go onto the next question..." he sighed.

She nodded. "Can you talk about- I know you don't remember, but please try- the fight that put you in this state."

"Uhm... where do I start...?"

"How about that morning at home."

Eijirou took a deep breath. "Well... I woke up with Katsuki like every day... Katsuki and I got ready together... like we always do. I.. I think we always do.... Anyway, we got ready, Katsuki made breakfast for the two of us, and we left for work. I brought him to work like I always do. But I don't remember why I bring him to work and he doesn't take his own car. Then... then I went to work. And I went on patrol... and....... Then the next thing I remember is seeing Denki there, yelling at me about Katsuki.... I don't remember what he was saying, but I just kept hearing him say Katsuki over and over again. And then we were both- Denki and I- in the ambulance and I just kept hearing Katsuki talking... then I woke up to Katsuki laying on the pull out couch."

Asami looked to Katsuki. "Can you fill in any details he missed?"

"I don't know anything about the fight or what Denki told him, but... he missed two things in the beginning... our daughters. I made breakfast for all four of us. And- and the reason you take me to work is because you take our daughters to school before you drop me off. Well, also... also you don't want me driving when I don't have to be," Katsuki explained.

"Oh.... Katsuki, I'm sorry..." Eijirou sighed.

"Whatever..."

"Moving on..." Asami said, "Can you tell me anything about the birth of your daughters? Specifically Nozomi, but either of them would be fine."

"Oh... Did something happen with Nozomi when she was born? I still can't think of anything..." Eijirou asked.

"Yes something happened!" Katsuki snapped.

"Mr. Kirishima, please... It isn't his fault," Asami sighed.

Katsuki huffed. "Fine. Can I tell him?"

"No. Not for now. I'd like to do an MRI scan before he gets any more information about the things he's forgotten. It can overwhelm his brain and various other things can happen from that," she said.

"But I want to know! What happened to Nozomi when she was born?!" Eijirou asked.

"I-I want to tell you Eijirou. I want to.... But I can't. She's fine now, okay?"

Eijirou sighed. "Baby, c'mere... can I please just give you a kiss..."

Asami stopped the voice recording and Katsuki moved so he was sitting on the edge of the bed. He gently leaned forward and kissed him, tears rolling down his cheeks. Eijirou pulled back slowly. He frowned when he saw the tears rolling down Katsuki's cheeks. He took a deep breath, a grimace coming onto his face as he started lifting his arm. It was painful as he had multiple bullet wounds in his shoulders, making it very hard and painstaking to move his arms. Katsuki, not noticing his arm moving, furrowed his eyebrows and cried a bit harder.

"Don't make that face... that face means you're hurt and I don't want to see that after we kissed.."

"Katsuki..." Eijirou gently placed his hand on Katsuki's cheek, the pained expression leaving his face as he gently caressed his cheek with his thumb, "I wanted to wipe away your tears."
