Xavier's POV

The familiar set of blue eyes threw me off for a second as I took in the reality of what was happening.

"What are you doing here?" I asked her, my eyes wide. The last time I had seen her was from afar, back in Hawaii. Why was she here now?

"What do you think I'm doing here, Xav," she said, sadness lacing her features as she looked at me with guilt. It had been months since I had last heard her voice and seeing her here with a duffle bag in her hand and concern on her face bought back a wave of emotions. "I'm here to see you."

"Me?" I scoffed. "You finally remembered to come meet me after cosying up with Garrick all this time while I was mourning Kyle? I don't need this now, Beatrice Adams. I don't need you around anymore."

"Please don't say that, Xav," she said, almost tearing up. "You have to understand that I did everything for a reason-"

"I said I don't want to hear it," I cut her off. "My girlfriend needs me right now and I really need to go," I said as I moved to walk past her.

"Girlfriend?" she whispered.

"You think I would've stuck moping around for a girl who didn't even bother contacting me for months?! I tried looking for you, and I did find you ultimately. But do you know what I saw? I saw the girl I was in love with, with the guy who tried to kill me. I saw her with the man who was responsible for Kyle's death."

"You loved me?" she asked, shock clear in her tone.

"I think I did," I said as I started walking to the car. "But whatever feelings I had for you aren't there anymore. I'm in a relationship with a girl ten times the person you could ever be and she needs me right now. Roy will drop you off at a hotel if you want after Kelsi is here but I cant help you any more than that. I'm sorry."

Just when she was about to reply, I got another call from Austin.
"How is she?" I asked him, not wasting another second.

"Not good," he said, sadness evident in his tone.

"I'm on my way," I said as I moved closer to my Gallardo.

"No, wait!" he yelled from the other end. "She doesn't want to see anyone, Xav. Trust me. She's not even ready to see me."

"She's my girlfriend, Austin. I cant just leave her like that when I know she's not in a good headspace."

"And she's my best friend. I've known her my entire life and I love her more than anything. So do you think for one second that I'd say anything that isn't the best for her or it isn't what she needs?"

I knew he was right and I knew that I could trust him with decisions that came to her but I couldn't just sleep peacefully back at my house when I knew she was hurting.

"Tomorrow, Xav," he said. "We need to speak about a lot of things tomorrow."

"Are you finally ready to tell me what the two of you have been hiding all this time?" I asked him as I heaved a sigh. "About the messages she was getting?"

There was a five second silence from his end after which he said, "How did you know about that?"

"I notice things, Austin. Especially when it comes to the people I care about. I was just waiting for her to tell me herself. I was waiting for you to talk to me about it too."

"I'm sorry, Xav. I really am. And I swear to you that I'll explain everything to you tomorrow. Let's just all give ourselves this one last night before diving into the madness."

"I don't like this, Austin," I said as I shook my head. Beatrice and Roy were both looking at me worriedly. I managed to give them an assuring smile and turned back to my conversation. "Waiting stuff out only makes it worse."
