"Why are you guys are meeting so late, though?" mom asked me with worry in her eyes as I got dressed to go to the tracks.
Dark blue jeans and a black turtle neck with boots and a beanie. Nothing too fancy.

Dad piped in on the conversation and asked me,"And are you sure that wherever you're going, its safe?"

"Mom. Dad. I need you two to trust me, okay? There is a chance that tonight, we might get Ryan to confess about everything that happened last year."

"This involves Ryan Richardson?!" mom gasped. "That's it. You're not going anywhere."

"Mom, please!" I pleaded. "He's not going to try anything, okay? Didn't I tell you that I punched him recently too? Besides, the entire group is going to be there. No one is going to let anything happen to anyone."

"And you really cant tell us what its about as yet?" Dad asked me.

"No, not yet. But I promise I will tell you everything soon. Just please trust me. This is really important for me."

I could see a battle brewing in their eyes - whether or not to let me go.

Finally, dad heaved a sigh of defeat as he said, "Fine. But I want answers from you tomorrow, kiddo. You can sleep over at Austin's house if you want to today."

A squeal left my mouth as I gave my father a big hug in gratitude.

Mom still looked unconvinced but she soon relented since she said, "I'm only allowing you because I trust Xavier and Austin to take care of you."

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" I said as I ran towards her with a big smile on my face and gave her a hug too.

"Ver! Let's go! We have to pick up Jen, Sky and Jamie too!" I heard Jerko's voice from outside the main door.

"Coming!" I yelled as I gave mom and dad a kiss on their cheeks, said a quick goodbye, and rushed outside.

The moment I stepped outside, I was greeted by a cool gust of wind.
"Holy shit, its cold," I muttered as I shut the door.

Jerko put an arm around my shoulder and together we walked to his jeep. I quickly sat on the passenger seat as Jerko started the ignition and drove the car.

"Shouldn't Jen sit with me in the front now that I'm dating her?" he asked me in all seriousness.

"Oh," I said awkwardly, not knowing how to react. I always sat shotgun with Jerko, even when he was dating Jen all two years ago. Looks like things change with time, though.

"Um, I'll just go sit back when the next signal comes up then."

He looked at me, shook his head in amusement and hit me on the head as he drove.

"Hey! What was that for?!"

"For being an idiot. Nothing changes between us despite whoever I date, okay? We always stay the same," he said as he gave me a meaningful look.

My heart warmed at his words. "How weird is it to think that you kissed me back in Hawaii?" I said with a grin.

"Ew!" he said. "Never bring that up again. The mental image grosses me out."

My mouth was hung open in shock as I slapped him through the face.

"OW! Ver, I'm driving!"

"Take that back," I said stubbornly.

"Take what back?!" he asked me, incredulous.

"That thinking about us kissing grosses you out."

"But it does!" he whined.
