A beautiful smile graced his lips as I said that.
"You have a way with words, you know that?" he asked with a grin."Well, what can I say? You're rubbing off on me," I said with a wink.
He chuckled in response.
The sight of lightening cackling in the sky followed by loud thundering got us back to the real world. The very next second, heavy rain was pouring down on us.
"Shit!" Xavier cursed as the two of us got down from the car bonnet and rushed to get inside the car."How the hell is it raining in December?!" I complained as I tried to dry off my now wet hair.
"We spoilt Austin's car," Xav said with a frown.
"Hey, it doesn't matter, okay? He'll understand. And I'm sure he'll agree when I say this that you need to stop thinking as if he's doing a favour for you and Kells or you two owe him something. You guys are friends and sharing is what friends do."He nodded with a small smile as silence engulfed us for a few seconds. Just when I thought there was too much tension in the air, a mischievous glint crossed his face as he suddenly started smirking.
"What's with a smirk, Anderson?" I asked him warily as he removed his phone from his pocket and connected it to the speaker of the car. He amped the volume to the highest, put his phone down on the dashboard, removed his leather jacket and then got out of the car.
"Xav, what the hell are you doing?! You're going to get wet! And sick too!!!"
The next second he was opening the passenger door.
I wanted to shout at him, scold him for being an idiot and getting out in the maddening downpour but I couldn't. I couldn't because I was too busy staring at his black t-shirt which was now completely wet and clung to him almost like second skin. I was conflicted. I didn't know whether to look at his toned arms or the shape of his six packs through the t-shirt."While its really entertaining watching you drool, Silverstone, the song is going to start after the 60 second add so get out already," he said with a knowing grin.
Damn he caught me.
I'm pretty sure my face was scarlet red but I tried shrugging off my embarrassment by changing the topic.
"What in God's name do you mean by 'get out already'?! I'm not getting out, you're getting in!!""You sound like a strict parent," he said as he rolled his eyes.
"So?"
"So it wont work on me because I have no parents. Now step out."
Safe to say I was a little thrown off by his casual remark just seconds after he was so emotional but I guess this was his way of coping.
Xavier, seeing that I wasn't going to move, rolled his eyes and leaned towards me."What are you-"
I couldn't finish, though, since the next second he put his one hand under my legs, the other on my waist and picked me up bridal style."Xavier!" I yelled over the voice of the rain. "What is wrong with you?! You're getting me all wet, put me down!!!"
He simply ignored me as we walked to the front of the car. I was getting a little flustered with him so close to me anyway so this DEFINITELY wasn't helping me hide the blush creeping up my face.
He finally put me down after a few seconds and said, "Just shut up and stay."
"What do you mean by that?! You cant just order me around and expect me to-"
I was silenced another time today. This time, however, it wasn't Xavier that interrupted me. It was the music he had played on full volume in the car.
My eyes widened as I heard the familiar melody.
"H-How did you know?" I whispered in shock.
