Xavier's POV

"KELSI, WATCH OUT!"
Her head turned to the road in the next second, giant headlights blinding us both. In that one millisecond, a wave of regrets washed over me that almost gave me a whiplash. My promise to mom to keep my sister safe - Failed. My goal to give Kelsi a life filled with happiness, joy and success - Failed. My dream to walk her down the aisle as her brother and hand her over to the guy she loves - Failed. My promise to teach Ryan a lesson as revenge for Veronica - Failed. My decision to FINALLY ask her out - Failed.

I was the biggest failure walking around and it seemed like I was going to die remaining one. Maybe if I was at the wheel, we might've had a chance to survive, but Murphy and his stupid Law just seemed to have it out for us.

Things, however, turned out differently than expected. Kelsi reacted faster than I expected her to and rapidly turned the steering wheel to the left. The truck passed us as the car drifted on the isolated road, getting a scratch on the right hand side door. My Gallardo was used to such rash driving though as it supported Kells to its best capacity. We rotated in a circle a few times while Kelsi tried her best to take control of the car.

The momentum hadn't been kind to my already injured hand and threw me to the side with extreme force. Before I knew it, she had pulled the hand break and we were at the corner of the road, mere centimeters away from crashing into a tree.

Silence ensued for a while as we both tried to catch our breaths and let the adrenaline settle.

She rested her head against the wheel, tired and traumatised, and asked me, "A-Are y-you okay?"

"Yeah, you?" I asked her, trying my best to suppress the pain gnawing at me in my arm.

"Peachy," she breathed out.

After a few more seconds of silence: "Where the hell did you learn to drive like that?"

"What, no 'Thank You for saving both our lives'?"

"Thank you for saving both our lives. Now talk. Where did you learn to drive like that?"

"I have my sources."

"Kells, I have definitely hurt my arm even more after what just happened and keep in mind that I was already pretty sure that it was fractured. To that agonising pain, add the fact that I just came to know that my sister is secretly learning how to race after telling me to not do it herself. My anger is just a few seconds from taking over and it wont be pretty. So I'm asking you again. Who taught you?"

Her eyes shut and shoulders slumped even more as she replied, "I saw YouTube videos."

Another minute of silence....And then, my anger took over.

"YOU ARE LEARNING HOW TO RACE FROM YOUTUBE?! I KNEW YOU WERE DUMB BUT THIS IS A NEW LEVEL, EVEN FOR YOU. WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING? OR ARE YOU SO TIRED OF BEING AROUND ME THAT YOU WANT TO DIE? YOU DIDNT THINK THAT MOM AND DAD DYING WAS PUNISHMENT ENOUGH FOR ME THAT YOU WERE READY TO MARTYR YOURSELF TOO?!"

Tears and hurt sprang in her eyes as she looked into my eyes and pleaded, "Please don't say that, Xav. You know you're my only family left and I would never do anything to hurt you on purpose. That's the reason I didn't tell you about this! You would've freaked out just like you are right now."

I scoffed at her reasoning, not in the mood for giving her an answer. She took my silence as an indication for her to continue.

"But it worked, didn't it?! I saved our lives! And I know I was being a hypocrite when I was the one to stop your racing but its been years since their death and I still couldn't cope. I was being selfish, I thought that maybe racing could be my escape for a while just like it was for you and I knew that you and Roy would never teach me so I thought - "
