XAVIER'S POV

I was faintly aware of the chaos ensuing around me but I couldn't care less. My entire attention was focussed on the girl laying on my lap as she murmured something before her eyes shut.

"Veronica?" my voice croaked as I held her face in my hand with extreme care and traced my thumb over her cheeks. "Veronica, open your eyes. Come on love."

"VER!"
Running all the way across the tracks had taken them quite some time but all seven of them finally reached up to us.
Austin stopped short as his entire body seemed to have gotten paralysed as he saw his best friend's blood soaked body lying on my lap. His knees buckled as he thumped down on the ground. His face expressionless.

Jen didn't waste any time before pushing past everyone and crouching beside me. Make-up ran down her face as she cried, her hands shivering as she felt for a pulse.

"Its very faint," I said, barely in the state of talking.

"Jamie, how far is the fucking ambulance?!" Simon yelled as he stood over us, not holding back on his emotions either.

"It'll be here any second," Jamie replied as he choked back a sob.

"Ver?" Roy said, scared out of his wits as he sat beside me. "If this is some stupid joke, now would be a really great time to tell us, okay? B-Because I don't think I'll be a-a-able to take it if something happened to you because of me."
As soon as the words left his mouth, he broke into sobs. Kelsi knelt down and ran a hand across his back as she too bit down on her lip to stop her cries.

"Nothing is going to happen to her, you understand me?" I said firmly as I looked down to the frail form of the beautiful girl lying in my lap. "This hasn't happened because of you and nothing has happened to her."

Austin, finally finding the words to speak after all this while said with a distraught expression, "Xav, her pulse-"

"COULD YOU JUST SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO ME FOR ONCE?!" I yelled, now frustrated. "She's going to be alright and nothing is going to happen to her so you better shut your fucking mouth because I don't want anyone, I repeat ANYONE, to say otherwise. Understood?"

All of them nodded with solemn expressions, too worried and scared to contradict me.

"Skylar," I said. "I want you to find Will and threaten his fucking life for all I care. But I want a location to where that bastard Garrick might be and I want it tonight. I'm going to kill him and no one is going to stop me."

"I'm coming with you," Austin said as he wiped a stray tear and got up.

I simply gave him a nod.

"The two of you aren't going anywhere," Jen ordered us as we heard the faint noise of the ambulance siren approaching us. "Your girlfriend," she said as she looked at me and then looked towards Austin. "And your best friend might not wake up. I am not going to let the two of you use this as a way of ignoring your feelings. She needs you right now and I'll be damned before I let the two of you do something stupid and make rash decisions."

"Babe, I swear to God-"

"Shut up, Austin!" she yelled at him as she hastily turned her attention to me. "What's more important to you boys? Revenge, or her?"

"Jen is right," said Kelsi as she looked at me worriedly and leaned forward to wipe a stray tear. "Nothing is going to happen to her, big bro," she whispered. "She's going to be fine."

I took her hand in mine as I kissed it with my eyes shut. "I know," I nodded. "Someone needs to call her family."

"I'll do it," said Sky as she took her phone out and walked away without another word.
The ambulance came within the next minute as Jen, Austin and I sat in it beside Veronica and the rest of them followed us in a car.
