**Two Years Later**

"SUPRISE!!!" I woke up to someone yelling at me.

I screamed and fell off my bed. When I rolled over I realized it was my parents and Emma, who was visiting for the week. She looked a lot older than she did yesterday. I stared at them blankly until it registered in my mind that it was my birthday. My eighteenth to be exact.

Mom was holding a small present and Emma had a envelope. Dad was standing behind them in the doorway, rubbing the back of his neck and looking around.

"You guys didn't have to get me anything!" I smiled. Mom practically threw her present at me,  so I assumed she wanted me to open her's  first.

After tearing through the paper, I held up the pocket watch. I glance up at mom and she was beaming at me.

"It belonged to your great grandmother. It been given to all the youngest daughters." She paused and noticed at I was looking at Emma. "Oh, don't worry, I gave Em a necklace that has been passed down, too." At this point Emma pulled a necklace out from under her collar. It had a gold chain and a beautiful, perfect, white diamond. It made me feel a little better that the oldest got something, too.

I looked down and examined the watch. It was nothing extraordinary, until I turned it over. On the other side was a design made with circles. I became so focused on the circles, I didn't hear at mom was talking to me.

"Earth to Hana!" I snapped back to reality.

"Oh, what did you say?" I asked.

"I said, do you like it? It hasn't opened since before my grandmother got it, so I don't know if it works. But it is rather pretty, isn't it?" While she had been talking, my focus went back to studying the strange design. It almost seemed familiar but I was pretty sure I had never seen it before

"Mhm." I mumbled. Emma stuck her envelope between me and the watch. She waved it around until I grabbed it, but stopped me when I went to open it. All of a sudden she leaned forward until her mouth was next to my ear, hugging me.

"Not now. Go outside after I go back to my room and open it when you get to where you almost got hit by that car," I almost gasped, I never told anybody about that day or the strange man. "Yes, I know about that, trust me." She pulled back, and I noticed a scar across her forehead that I know wasn't there yesterday. "Okay?" She whispered.

I could only nod in reply.
