The Boss Know's

Meredith's POV:
"You- you- we- Cormac!" I say as we turn the corner heading towards the pit. "Hm?" He replies. "What just happened?" I ask surprised and confused at the same time. I'm now walking beside him. He turns his head to look at me. "I put Deluca in his place." He says. I giggle. Cormac reaches his hand out for mine, I place my hand in his and our fingers interlock. "You- in front of the whole hospit- Cormac!" I say he chuckles. "I'll do it again." He says as we walk into the pit. "I don't even know what just happened." I continue. We walk outside to the abundance bay and walk over to a bench. "Are you okay?" He asks as we sit down. He looks concerned but also happy. I shake my head raising an eyebrow "I-I-I don't know.." I respond. "So much for being respectful." I continue Cormac turns his head to look at me. He looks upset. I place my hand on his cheek "Cor... I'm not mad. He deserved it. And that kiss was really sexy." I say he just looks into my eyes. "I don't want to hurt you... you said you needed time and I kissed you in front of everyone." He says I smile and lean closer to him. My lips press against his softly I pull away the smallest amount just to make sure he's okay with what I was doing. He leans into my kiss as our lips lock together. I let him kiss me a little longer then I probably should have. I pull away. "I'm not mad." I say. He chuckles "I can see that." He replies. I lean my head on his shoulder and grab his hand again. "Cormac?" I ask quiet. "Meredith..." he copies waiting for me to finish my sentence "I really liked that." I continue he rubs his thumb on my hand as he holds it. "I really like you.." he replies I smile as Amelia walks out to see us.

"Did you actu- oh my god!" She yells. Cormac and I both start laughing. "I kissed her... with everyone there. I kissed her in front of the whole hospital." Cormac says I chuckle because he was being cute. "Okay wait I need every detail." Amelia say standing in front of us. "You did not!" Jo says walk over to Cormac. "Oh my god... does the whole damn hospital know?" I ask. "Umm yeah Mer... you kissed at the nurses station in front of your ex..." Amelia says. I pick my head up off Cormac's shoulder making him look at me "hey remember when we talked about how we run?" I ask he nods "now seems like a good time to do so." I continue he laughs then kisses me again, it was quick and soft. "Oh my god! You two are so cute." Jo says. I smile and look at her "well... I- uh. Give us a few minutes to talk okay?" I say Cormac still looking at me. Jo and Amelia roll their eyes and walk back into the hospital. "Is a 'you two' a thing? Are we an 'us' a couple?" Cormac asks. I look at him in the eyes amazed by how blue they are. "I don't know." I answer "it feels like it but I don't know." I continue right as his pager goes off. "Fuck" he says i look at him "go save a life." I say. He groans "but I want to hold you in my arms and protect you and talk and I just want you." He protests. "Later! Now a kid needs help, help the tiny humans." I reply. He stands up so do I. "Hug?" He asks making a sad face "Mhm" I reply falling into his arms.

Cormac's POV:
I pull away from Meredith walking into the hospital. As I walk down the halls people are looking at me but I brush it off. I get to the peds ward where I'm met by Bailey. She looks mad so I stand up straighter. "Hayes!" She yells. "Doctor Bailey." I reply. "I paged you. My office." She says then walks away. Sometimes Bailey scares people but others she just likes to act intimidating to scare. Right now? She was actually scaring me. I follow her to her office walking in and sitting down in front of her desk. "Is something wrong Bailey?" I ask. She looks down at her desk then back up to me I get extremely nervous as she stares at me. "Doctor Hayes, if I ever again hear that my head of pediatric surgery and my head of general surgery had a make out session in the middle of the damn hospital you will both be suspended. Is that understood?" She says I smile and look down. "Crystal clear." I reply.

She nods "you can leave. If you see your little girl toy tell her I would like to speak with her." She says I nod and stand up walking towards the door "and Hayes!" Bailey says as I place my hand on the door knob. I turn looking at her. "Don't hurt her. She's been through a lot and she likes you so don't hurt her. I don't want to have to wonder where she went when she runs away again." Bailey continues I smile and take my hand off the door.

"Bailey that's the thing." I say walking back to the seat I was previously in. "I can't. I cannot hurt her, it doesn't work... not that I've tried. It's just- I like her so much. She says she doesn't want a relationship and that she wants to wait to respect DeLuca and herself but Bailey she keeps coming back. I don't know what to do." I say Bailey smiles at my explanation. "She does that. She did it with Derek. Pushed him away them begged him to come back. Hayes I don't think anyone has begged her to stay. She always does it. This isn't my business." Bailey replies. I shake my head "you're right it's not your business but I'm asking for help. Bailey you are like her mom. Do I ask her out on a real date or do we just screw around?" I ask. Bailey shakes her head. "Do what you think is right." She answers I sigh getting aggravated "Bailey!" I say. "Ask her out." She blurts out. I nod. "But first go find her and tell her to come to my office." Bailey says so I walk out.

Meredith's POV:
"Hey Bailey." I say walking into her office she was standing by the window looking out at everything. Her back is facing me but she turns to see me. She's messing with her hands like she used to do before she got OCD. I walk closer to her putting my hand on her arm. "Are you okay?" I ask she nods. "Haven't heard from Ben yet." She replies I look at her "he's probably working. If something happened you would know. It's okay." I say. She looks at me. "Mhm. You look happy." Bailey answers. I roll my eyes. "I'm sure you know... that's why I'm here you want to say you'll suspend me if it happens again." I reply Bailey nods. "You're not an intern anymore... your panties came off the bulletin board years ago. You're an adult, stop kissing your coworkers in the middle of the damn hospital!" Bailey says firmly but also jokingly. I laugh

"I forgot about that! I'm not that girl anymore, the pick me, sex in exam rooms, adulterous whore, dirty mistress, dying mommy, daddy issues, surprise wife, dead friends girl. I kind of miss it, the thrill of it all." I say mostly talking to myself but talking to Bailey too. She looks at me confused "I only know about a few things you listed and I don't need an explanation. You're too good. You're not that girl now you yell at doctors who kill people, have dinner parties with doctors who kill people, loose your person by letter, need to cut, kids come first, I come first, get attached by patients, make mini livers, Harper Avery award winning women. Grey, don't let him change you." Bailey says as we both sit down. "It's not a Harper Avery anymore." I reply. She looks at me then at her phone "why did you ignore my comment about him?" She asks. I shrug

"Bailey... the thing is if he asked me to be his I'd say yes and that scares the shit out of me. I have kids now, my job is perfect, I'm in a good place and I'm going to need a friend... Alex is gone and isn't coming back. I need someone here to help and support me. Cormac is that person right now." I answer. She looks up from her phone "last time I checked you never kissed karev in the middle of the hospital." She says. "Bailey!" I say. "It's not really my business." Bailey says. I look at her "what do I do?" I ask.

"Meredith, you drown, you have been in a shooting, a plane crash, an attack, COVID, pregnancy scare, miscarriage while in surgery. You survived it all. You bet you ass if I did all of that I would not be sitting in my bosses office asking her what to do... damn I'd be on a plane. I'd buy a boat- a yacht. I'd go on vacation. You have seen first hand life's to damn short to cry and self waddle especially over a man. Get your ass up and go have some damn fun... but your shift starts at twelve tomorrow." Bailey says I smile "thank you Bailey... ya know? I love you." I say getting up walking to the door. "Mhm, I'm sure you do grey." She says as I walk out of the room.

AUTHORS NOTE:
I like this chapter little more. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep this story going I kind of hate it. What do we think is going to happen next?
