Running Away - Chapter 15

Diluc puts some of his work away. And looks over at y/n. She is knocked out cold. He sighs at his response to earlier. He slowly walks over to y/n. He picks her up bridal style. Hold ing her tight against him. He then uses his back to push the door open. A worker of his sees him holding y/n.

Worker: s-sir, is everything alright?
Diluc: she is knocked out cold. Can you open my room door for me please?
Worker: of course sir...

The worker of his grabs a key from a drawer and heads up the stairs to unlock the door. Diluc then walks over to the bed and lays y/n down.

Worker: will that be all sir?
Diluc: yes... thank you, you are excused...
Worker: thank you sir

The worker leaves the room and closes the door behind them. Diluc then puts the covers over y/n to keep her warm. And puts his jacket aside. He looks down at the h/c haired girl and strokes her locks. Diluc leans over and kisses her on the forehead, and hesitantly pulls away. He watches her for a little while thinking about what to do, what he should say to her? He stays there for the rest of the night, making sure she was ok. Daylight starts to lighten up the room. Y/n raises her hand, putting it over her eyes.

Diluc POV

I see y/n start to wake up and make my way over to her. And sit on the bed beside her. I see her turn and slowly look towards me... even hungover she looks beautiful... I hold her hand to comfort her

Diluc: morning...
Y/n: m-morning? D-did you stay here all night?
Diluc: ...yes... I wanted to make sure you are ok...
Y/n: ... thank you...
Diluc: ...do you remember what happened yesterday?
Y/n: ... I do... I remember completely embarrassing myself...
Diluc: you have nothing to be embarrassed about...
Y/n: but I do... I wouldn't have said or done any of those things if I was sober...
Diluc: ... I know you wouldn't have... but I'm glad you did...
Y/n: how come?
Diluc: because now I know that I'm not alone...
Y/n: listen Diluc... I'm not going to get in the way of you and Fumiko... what I did last night was a bad decision... I know that this is something you have to do...
Diluc: th-thank you...

There is silence across the room

Diluc: how are you feeling anyways? Does your head hurt?
Y/n: no... I'm ok... honest...
Diluc: well I'm going to get you something to eat... you need to have something...
Y/n: since when did you become my assistant? *chuckles*
Diluc: not left me much choice have you *smirks*

Diluc leaves the room to go get y/n some breakfast. Y/n looks down to her side with her smile changing to a frown. She lifts off the covers and gets out of her bed. When time goes by Diluc returns to the room with a tray of food. He sees that y/n isn't in the room. He places the try down and walks towards the bed to see a note there. His sad expression shows that he has a bad feeling for what is to come. He opens the letter from y/n

Y/n: dear Diluc, I'm sorry to say this but I can't stay here any longer. You have shown me so much kindness in the time I have known you, so it was enough to make me have feelings for you. I care about you too much to see you unhappy for what is to come. I'm not sad at the fact that you aren't with me, because I only want what is best for you. Even though I disagree with this arranged marriage, I respect you for making this hard decision... I hope you find happiness with Fumiko, I hope she treats you in the way you deserve. Don't ever give up on your happiness Diluc, it will come to you, even if I'm not part of it. I wish you all the best, sincerely Y/n

Diluc's hand shakes after reading the letter. He can't hold in his anger from what he has done. He flips the tray and punches the table with his fists. He slowly opens his grip until he is leaning on the table. His eyes closed as he tries to control his emotions. For a moment he was still, he was emotionless. But all the memories with y/n filled his head. All the times he looked after her, when she helped him at Liyue, the beautiful sceneries they faced together, their heart to heart and their first kiss... it all was too much for him... he couldn't hold in his tears anymore. He stormed out of the room, and charged for the front door of the winery

Diluc POV

I looked for any sign of her, some sort of clue of where she could be... she was nowhere in sight. I had to find her! I went to any place I could think of that she would go to, Mondstadt city, the mountains, and of course Liyue. But she wasn't there... as I keep searching for her in Liyue... I remembered someone she would possibly go to... I raced myself to the location. I stormed into a building, it was the Wangsheng Funeral Parlour. There is an office there that I rush into. There in front of me is Zhongli. I walk straight up to him

Diluc: where is she?!
Zhongli: who?
Diluc: who do you think?!
Zhongli: y/n? I'm afraid to say that I don't know...
Diluc: don't lie to me!
Zhongli: I'm afraid I'm not lying Diluc...
Diluc: you have to be!
Zhongli: what happened?
Diluc: she ran off!
Zhongli: did you say something to upset her?
Diluc: it's not like that!
Zhongli: listen master Diluc... we have known each other for a long time... do you seriously think I would do anything to hurt you?
Diluc: I don't know anymore Zhongli! I don't know anything anymore! I just know that I don't want her to get hurt!
Zhongli: you really care for this woman?
Diluc: yes! And I thought she would have come here to you... considering that you both... you know
Zhongli: you think we both spent the night together?
Diluc: well didn't you?!
Zhongli: no... if anything, she turned me down...
Diluc: sh-she did?!
Zhongli: yes... but now I'm starting to think it might have to do with the fact she had feelings for another?
Diluc: ... I'm sorry for bothering you...

Diluc is about to leave the room

Zhongli: Diluc... if you find her... don't let her go again... she is special that girl...
Diluc: ... I know... and I won't...

Diluc leaves the funeral parlour. Scared as to where she could be. He was not going to give up looking for her. He couldn't be without her. As for the winery? He wasn't sure what was going to happen to it. But he knew for a fact that he couldn't marry Fumiko. He just wanted y/n, no matter the cost... he had to put an end to this marriage. He headed to find Itsuki, he had to stop this deal
