Searching For The Mask - Chapter 56

Your POV

I step out from the portal and see the house I grew up in... my last home. I walk towards the house and pray that my mother wasn't home. I sneak behind the house and spot a shovel at the side of the garden with some other gardening tools. I pick up the shovel and start to dig around. Unfortunately the garden was quite big so it meant I had to hurry. I quickly start to shovel the ground and look for the mask.

After a while I still had no luck with the mask and I was starting to break a sweat. Suddenly I hear a loud yell make it's way towards me. I turn to see my mom there behind me

Mom: what on earth are you doing?!
Y/n: hi mom...
Mom: you disappear for months and you come back to tare up my garden?!?!
Y/n: dad left me something here... and I need to find it! Plus you kicked me out! Why the hell should I make an appearance?! when you clearly don't give a shit about me!
Mom: don't take that tone with me!
Y/n: why do you hate me mom?! Is it because I'm like dad?! Is it because I'm a "monster"?!?!
Mom: h-how did you?-
Y/n: ... I found him... why did you tell me he died?!
Mom: because he is dead! To me anyways!
Y/n: you have no idea what he has done! What he has sacrificed to try and get back to you! How can you say such awful things when all he ever wanted was to be accepted in life?!
Mom: because he isn't human!
Y/n: well once I am done here, he will be... you get what you both wanted...

Y/n continues to shovel

Mom: stop destroying my garden or I'll call the police!
Y/n: go for it, tell them I said hi!

Y/n's mom goes inside while y/n continues to dig. As she continues to dig she finally hits something hard. She moves the dirt out of the way and kneels down to see the dark purple mask in front of her. She wipes the dirt off and smiles. As she tries to conjure up a portal she hears younger voices make their way to her

Brother: Y-Y/n?
Y/n: umm hi guys...
Sister: w-what's going on? What is that thing?!
Y/n: ... it's a long story... I'm sorry I really want to explain to you both but I really got to go!
Brother: no!! You've been gone for months! Please don't go again!

Y/n looks at the portal then back at her siblings.

Y/n: I'm sorry... I didn't want to leave you... but things are difficult now... I want to fix everything for you both... but you are going to have to trust me and let me go
Sister: y/n! Please... nothing is the same without you...
Y/n: I'm sorry

Y/n hugs both her siblings and looks at them sadly

Y/n: no matter what, I am always here for you

Y/n's mom comes back outside and sees y/n with her brother and sister and the portal in front of them

Mom: get away from my kids!!
Y/n: I was just leaving...
Mom: no one is ever going to accept you for who you are!
Y/n: oh yeah?

Y/n shows her engagement ring to them all

Y/n: there are people who accept me! There are people who love me! And if you excuse me, I'd like to go back to them! Because from what I can see here mom, you are the real monster! Because you'll never accept a person for who they are! Just like I cant accept you for betraying the man you loved!

Y/n goes through the portal and it closes behind her. When she comes through, she sees her self in the snowy terrain looking over the snow fields.

Y/n: w-what?! This- this isn't right?! I-

She tries to use her portal again but it just goes back to the normal world. She goes back to the snowy field. As she looks beyond the fields she sees a town a little further away. She rushes over to it. When she finally arrives there, she sees some citizens in the town wondering about

Y/n: excuse me? Can you please tell me how I get to the Tsaritsa? It's an emergency!
Man: the Tsaritsa?
Y/n: yes!
Man: I'm afraid that the quickest way to get to the Tsaritsa is to walk there. You have to take the streets north. Keep going until you get to her palace. It is at least half an hour on foot. Even if you ran there
Y/n: oh no! I'm not going to make it! Uhhh oh no

She starts to run

Y/n: thank you!

Y/n keeps running north and her eyes start to tear up. She couldn't let them hurt Diluc. Her time is cutting short and she gets more and more exhausted the longer she goes. She finally arrives at the palace . When she gets to the gate, there are guards there preventing people from entering

Y/n: please! You need to let me in!
Guard: no one enters these gates
Y/n: Y-YOU'RE KIDDING ME?! I was literally kidnapped earlier and now I can't even get in to this hell hole??!!
Guard: we were specifically asked by sir Pierro not to let anyone in
Y/n: ... so that's the game he wants to play! Fine!

Y/n raises her hands to the sides of her. Her hands fill with electricity. She then shoots both the guards away. Knocking them to the ground. She then barges through the gate. She rushes inside and searches for the dome. She looks in every room trying to find it, fighting off any guard that gets in her way. She finally finds the room. And sees her dad next to Diluc. He has him kneeled down beside him, with a sword up to his neck. Y/n stares at them in shock, terrified of her father's next action
