The Missing Drawing - Chapter 24

Y/n is in bed alone and slowly wakes up. She looks around the room and sighs. She thinks about what Diluc had told her the day before. Even though it upset her that he stays up throughout the nights, she knew he did it for the good of others, and that he is in a happier state. She gets up out of the bed after a short while and gets ready to meet Diluc downstairs for the day. As she gets dressed she hears the door open. Diluc is there, he has his darknight hood in his arms.

Diluc: good morning
Y/n: morning

He gives her a quick kiss on the cheek

Y/n: you alright? I was going to meet you downstairs once I got changed?
Diluc: yeah I just came to put my cloak away.
Y/n: did everything go ok?
Diluc: yeah. Was quiet thankfully. Oh I will be working at the Angel's share tonight by the way. I need to check up on it
Y/n: can I come?
Diluc: you want to go?
Y/n: yeah!
Diluc: umm sure if you want. I'll be there till 2 in the morning though?
Y/n: that's ok... you ready to go to the study then?
Diluc: yep... you?
Y/n: just need my notes from the table

Diluc grabs them for her. But then looks through the pages

Y/n: hey that's private!
Diluc: *chuckles* you seriously need to fix your hand writing in these meetings
Y/n: Diluc give them back!

Diluc noticed the drawing of him is missing. Y/n then snatches the notepad

Y/n: I'm not good at writing quickly. That's why I rewrite everything for you after
Diluc: umm why is there a page missing?
Y/n: oh umm it was just some unneeded notes...
Diluc: ... I see... you ready now?
Y/n: yeah let's go

They both head down the stairs. Diluc was concerned as to why she got rid of the drawing in her notepad.  Didn't know if she did it because she was mad, or didn't like it. But it bothered Diluc. He couldn't stop thinking about it. When they get to the study they go over the meeting yesterday with Zhongli and Childe, making a plan of what direction they needed to go in. When it comes to the end of the day, Diluc and Y/n head to Angel's share. There isn't too many people there. Diluc goes behind the bar and Charles gets off his shift. Y/n sits on a bar stool so she could be near Diluc while he worked. He serves people while he speaks to her

Y/n: I still can't believe your whole work involves alcohol when you don't even like drinking it
Diluc: yeah but you know why
Y/n: well of course I do... but don't you ever get bored of it?
Diluc: sometimes I guess, but I find it quite nostalgic?
Y/n: you do?
Diluc: yeah... Back when my dad owned the winery, he would get along with everyone. They called him the king of the bar... he was so happy... loved making conversation with customers... I guess it just reminds me of how much of a good man he actually was before...
Y/n: that's really sweet...

Y/n grabs his hand at the bar to comfort him. They smile at each other. Diluc then continues to serve people. Him and y/n talk for the rest of the night. When Diluc's shift is over, they both head back to the winery. When they get back to the bedroom, y/n takes off Diluc's jacket. She got cold outside, so Diluc gave her it. Diluc looks across the room and sees y/n's note pad on the table again

Diluc: *sighs* y/n?
Y/n: yeah?
Diluc: your notepad? I know there was a drawing of me in it...
Y/n: wh-what?!
Diluc: I saw it a while ago...
Y/n: you snooped through my notes when I wasn't there?!
Diluc: no! I just looked at the pages, I didn't actually read anything! I didn't realise there was going to be a drawing... I just wanted to know why you got rid of the drawing? Did I make you mad?!
Y/n: no but you are right now!...
Diluc: then why did you get rid of it?
Y/n: I didn't...

Y/n storms towards a drawer where she kept some of her clothes. She reaches underneath them and grabs a book. She gives it to Diluc

Y/n: I asked your workers when your birthday was... they said it was next week so I made this for you!...

Diluc looks through the pages and sees drawings of him, Mondstadt, Liyue. And at the end a drawing of them both together kissing. He stares at that page for a moment

Diluc: y/n, I'm so sorry!
Y/n: forget it!

She is about to storm into the bathroom but turns to face him

Y/n: yesterday you told me you trusted me! But I'm starting to think that maybe that wasn't true

She slams the bathroom door and locks it. Diluc goes up to the door

Diluc: y/n please open the door... I really am sorry!
Y/n: just leave me alone!
Diluc: I do trust you! I swear I didn't mean to snoop on your notes!
Y/n: oh I'm sorry, did the pages just land on your face?!
Diluc: please... let me in...
Y/n: no!

Diluc puts his back to the door and slides to sit down. Y/n has done the same on the other side of the door. After a while she grabs some towels and uses them as pillows to sleep on. She uses them in the bath and decides to sleep in there. She really didn't want to see him. A little time passes by

Diluc: y/n?

Diluc realised she must have fallen asleep. He really didn't want her to sleep in that cold bathroom for the night. He looks at the lock and grabs a key he had for that side in case of emergencies. He slowly opens the door and sees y/n sleeping in the bath tub. He frowns seeing her like that. She had also obviously been crying because her face was flushed. He grabs her out of the bath and places her on the bed, carefully trying not to wake her. Folding the covers over her, he realises he should give her some space and leaves the room, quietly closing the door. He decides to instead go to the study and sit there, regretting bringing up the drawing.
