Birthday Surprise - Chapter 53

It is one week later. Y/n is asleep in bed. Diluc is sitting on the edge of the bed waiting for y/n to wake up. As the sun rises, y/n slowly starts to wake up. Diluc leans forward and gives her a kiss

Diluc: *smiles* happy birthday
Y/n: H-How did you know it was my-?!
Diluc: lucky guess?
Y/n: ...
Diluc: you accidentally filled in a document with your birthday instead of mine...
Y/n: ughh I'm such an idiot!
Diluc: why didn't you want me to know?
Y/n: ... because... it's my father's birthday too... I just hate not having him here with me...
Diluc: ... I'm sorry... but it's your day y/n... you deserve to have a great birthday
Y/n: *smiles* thank you...
Diluc: here, I have something for you
Y/n: you really didn't-
Diluc: no. You deserve to have a gift on your day. Especially one from the person who loves you

Y/n smiles then takes the wrapped gift Diluc had given her. She stares at the small present then unwraps it. There in her hand was a copy of the book "Lost Desert Flower". Y/n sees the book that Diluc had read to her. Her smile grows, she looks up to Diluc

Y/n: it's the book you read to me. The night you-
Diluc: I fell in love with you... I got a copy from Lisa months ago. I've been looking for the perfect time to give it to you. Thought today would be best
Y/n: *chuckles* I love it. Thank you

Y/n gives Diluc a kiss on the lips then holds the book close to her.

Diluc: so what is it you usually would do on your birthday? What was your favourite part?
Y/n: hmm well me and my dad used to go to the park and play soccer or just walk around the lake, then we would go get a pizza together...
Diluc: we can do that
Y/n: *chuckles* do you even have soccer here?
Diluc: I uh don't think so? But you can teach me
Y/n: *chuckles* maybe we can just stick to a walk for now
Diluc: *smiles* alright

It is later on. Y/n and Diluc are having a walk besides a lake. They are holding hands as they stroll along

Y/n: we really should do this more often. We don't really just stroll around the area
Diluc: *chuckles* well I think we both get lost in work
Y/n: that is true.

Y/n goes towards the lake. She takes off her shoes and sits on the grass and places her feet into the water

Diluc: what are you doing?
Y/n: enjoying the water on my feet
Diluc: isn't it cold?
Y/n: yeah but it's so warm out today, it feels refreshing to relax in the water
Diluc: *smirks* in that case

Diluc walks closer to y/n. He then picks her up bridal style

Y/n: W-What are you doing?!

Diluc then walks closer to the water

Y/n: n-no no! Don't you dare Diluc! No!

Diluc throws y/n into the water with a huge smirk on his face. Y/n swims up catching her breath. Diluc then leans over, and starts to laugh

Y/n: you're so lucky I can swim!!
Diluc: I thought you wanted to feel more refreshed? *smirks*

Y/n swims closer to Diluc and starts to smirk

Y/n: oh I do. I feel a lot more refreshed now. But you know what would make me feel better?
Diluc: what?

Y/n pulls Diluc into the water with her. He swims up for air

Y/n: revenge

Y/n starts to laugh. Diluc then smirks again and splashes y/n. She then does the same to him. This turns into a repeated gesture. They continue to do so and laugh at each other's reactions. Diluc then grabs y/n's arms so she would stop. He then gets closer to her and kisses her passionately on the lips. She does the same back. When they pull apart, they smile at one another and then get out of the water. Y/n rinses out the water from her hair. Diluc then puts his jacket around y/n, to try and keep her warm. She smiles back in response. They then head back to the winery to get dried before they go get food from the restaurant. Once they have got dried, they head towards the way point

Y/n: thanks for trying to make this day feel special for me again... it's been a long time since I've actually celebrated this day...
Diluc: it's the least I could do... you just needed to be reminded that you can have a good birthday. Even if it's not exactly the way you imagined it

Y/n smiles. As Diluc is about to put his hand on the waypoint he quickly turns behind him with concern. He then pulls y/n behind him, to protect her.

Y/n: W-what is it?!

Diluc stays silent.

Y/n: Diluc?
Diluc: ...show yourself!!!

Signora comes out from behind a rock nearby

Y/n: S-Signora?!?!
Signora: you should have come when you had the chance y/n! Now you are late! The Tsaritsa isn't happy with your choice
Y/n: what?! What are you talking about?
Signora: oh so you didn't tell her Diluc? *chuckles* this makes this more interesting
Y/n: diluc? What does she mean you didn't tell me? Tell me what?
Signora: lover boy was supposed to have you come to Snezhnaya a week ago. If he wasn't to do so, the Tsaritsa would have you killed. We were generous and gave you another week. But now, we have a better plan for you Yaksha!
Y/n: w-what?! Diluc? Is she serious?! Please tell me she is lying!
Diluc: I-I didn't know how to tell you!

Y/n steps away from Diluc in fear

Y/n: you kept this from me?!
Diluc: I wasn't going to let them harm you! I wasn't going to let them take you away from me again!
Y/n: then we face it together Diluc! You can't keep stuff like this away from me!
Signora: isn't it sad when the person you love keeps something from you?
Diluc: stay out of this!
Signora: hmm no matter. We don't really have time for this chit chat

Fatui members surround Diluc and y/n. Taking away their visions, and restraining them both. The Fatui members then guide them away, and head towards the Tsaritsa's ship. Diluc and y/n are again in the brig, but in separate cells opposite sides to each other. Y/n has her back facing the bars. While Diluc grabs onto them trying to speak with y/n

Diluc: y/n please! I'm sorry!
Y/n: ... just leave it...
Diluc: ... I only did it because I thought it was best

Y/n goes silent

Diluc: please speak to me!
Y/n: ... why do they have us on a ship? Why didn't they just waypoint us there?
Diluc: ...y/n
Y/n: you wanted me to speak! I'm speaking!
Diluc: *sighs* because there's no waypoints in Snezhnaya... it is heavily guarded there. They can't have unauthorised people enter...
Y/n: ...
Diluc: y/n... we need to find a way out of her... we need to work together to figure this out
Y/n: oh so now you want to work together?!
Diluc: please don't be like that
Y/n: like what?! I know I can be a bitch sometimes! And I know I can get angry over nothing! But that's just who I am! But I would never keep something like a life or death situation from you!
Diluc: ... I know... and I really am sorry... please... I can't lose you again...
Y/n: ... I don't even know what they want to do to me Diluc... for all I know... you already have

Y/n lays down on the hay bed. Hiding her tears from Diluc. He then stares over at her. He regrets keeping the information to himself. He may have just made things a lot worse for her because of his actions
