The Ruin Guard - Chapter 27

A few days have gone by. Y/n is in Mondstadt city delivering some more letters into the mail box there. They had received a few responses but they are exploring their options. When y/n is about to leave a familiar face approaches her

Y/n: Aether?! I haven't seen you in a while! Good to see you!
Aether: yeah you too! So how are things at the winery?
Y/n: really good actually thanks. How are things going at the adventurers guild?
Aether: pretty good too. Do you think you'll ever come back to doing commissions?
Y/n: I don't think so. Although I do kinda miss it, was kinda fun
Aether: well do you have some free time? I am about to do a commission and could really use an extra pair of hands.
Y/n: umm yeah, I have some time. What's the task?
Aether: there's been mention of some hillichurls blocking a path into the forest.
Y/n: oh ok, yeah I can help with that
Aether: great! Let's go!
Y/n: lead the way

Aether and y/n both leave the city and head towards the woods. From a distance they can see a group of hillichurls gathered in the middle of the path. Aether and y/n hide behind a bush, peeking over to see the enemies. They decide to charge at them on the count of 3. When they do they storm in and use their weapons to attack, swinging left and right. Aether uses his Anemo magic to shoot them back, and y/n uses her electro to strike the opponents down. After a while they defeat them all. Out of breath they both smile at getting the commission done.

Y/n: we-we did it!
Aether: yeah!

They both still try to catch their breath and hear a loud crash not far away. It gets louder and closer to them. They turn to see where the noise comes from, to their surprise they see a huge ruin guard making its way to them. Aether and y/n look at the guard with shocked eyes. As it gets closer, they both stand ready to fight again.

Y/n: what is that?!
Aether: a ruin guard! They are very strong and like to swing. So be careful! The weak spot is the eye so try and aim there!

They both run towards the guard. They jump up and try to slice its eye but it's not doing enough damage. It keeps spinning its arms around and shooting balls of fire out of the back. They manage to dodge them all. Y/n uses her electro and shoots for its eye. It seemed to do quite a lot of damage to it. She continues to do so but gets a little too close. The ruin guard swings his arm and hits y/n, sending her into a tree. She is injured but ignores her pain and stands back up.

Aether: you ok?!
Y/n: yeah!... but you might want to stand back!
Aether: what?!
Y/n: trust me!

Aether listens to y/n and stands back. Y/n slowly walks towards the ruin guard. She raises her hand in front of her, until her arm was in the air. Her hand starts sparking out purple electricity. The sparks grow, and the light gets brighter. Y/n then channels that energy and punches the ground, sending a shock wave towards the guard. Knocking it to the ground. Y/n waits for it to respond but it was dismantled. Aether stares towards her. He sees she is holding her stomach. He runs over to check on her

Aether: y-you alright?!
Y/n: ...yeah... I'm ok...
Aether: you sure?
Y/n: yeah... I should be going though... I don't want Diluc to worry... I'll see you later Aether!
Aether: yeah... will do

Y/n leaves and aether watches her go with concern in his eyes. Y/n approaches the winery and tries to act as though she is ok. She opens the door and goes into the study. Diluc is sitting at this desk. He turns to face her

Diluc: hey, you were gone a while? Did you deliver the letters?
Y/n: umm yeah... just bumped into Aether so we talked for a while catching up
Diluc: oh ok... I have a meeting with Zhongli next week, can you write that down for me?
Y/n: oh yeah sure. Did he stop by to talk to you while I was gone?
Diluc: no I received a letter from him... are you ok? You seem off?
Y/n: how do you mean?
Diluc: you are just standing a little slouched
Y/n: I guess I'm just a little tired.
Diluc: you can lay down if you want. Get some rest? I've got it covered from here
Y/n: are you sure?
Diluc: ...yes now go. I just want you to feel ok
Y/n: thank you...

Your POV

I head upstairs, I then put my hand on my stomach trying not to make noises from the pain. Hopefully I can get a good rest and sleep off the pain... I just hope there isn't a massive bruise there... but by how hard the guard hit me, I wouldn't be surprised if there was. How am I going to explain it to Diluc if he sees it?! I would go to the statue of the seven but I doubt I would get blessed for something that was caused by my own stupidity... there's no way I could go now anyways. If Diluc saw me leave the winery he would know something isn't right. Maybe I should give it a try anyways tomorrow? I really don't know what I would do if he found out I got myself hurt. I lay down on the bed holding down on my stomach. It was hot to the touch. I rest my eyes for a while. I didn't even want to know how bad it looked.

She fell asleep for a couple hours. Diluc then came in to check to see how she was feeling. He sits on the bed beside her. He slowly shakes her arm to try and wake her up. She slowly opens her eyes

Diluc: how you feeling?
Y/n: I'm ok...
Diluc: it's 7... should we go get some dinner?
Y/n: yeah sounds good
Diluc: ok, I'll give you a couple minutes to wake up.

He gives her a quick peck on the cheek. She smiles at him as he goes to the bathroom. She sits up on the bed slowly, her stomach hurt a lot as she did. But she had to hold on her pain. She didn't want Diluc to hear. Diluc then comes out of the bathroom with a smile

Diluc: ready?
Y/n: yeah...

They both leave the room and go grab some food
