The Proposition - Chapter 6

Diluc and Itsuki arrive in the study. Itsuki sits down at a desk and Diluc stands facing him. He then gestures Diluc to sit down.

Diluc: I'd rather stand if you don't mind
Itsuki: as you wish. So what is it you are wanting Master Diluc?
Diluc: sir, I want to make a proposition for my company.
Itsuki: and what would that be?
Diluc: you know that the winery funds have been low lately. And I know you offered me to marry your niece. But I can't do so until I know there is more to offer
Itsuki: what more do you want?
Diluc: I need more land. I want to expand the winery. I don't want to just sell stock.
Itsuki: what if we opened another winery here in Liyue?
Diluc: that would be great but there's more...
Itsuki: more?
Diluc: ... I want more funding to my current workers... and more staff if we plan to expand... that lady outside I journeyed with, needs work. I made a deal she could work for me if she helped me out. So, she has to be included
Itsuki: hmm does she have any experience in the field?
Diluc: as far as I know she doesn't... she isn't exactly from around here...
Itsuki: then why don't you have her as an assistant? Just ask her to keep your documents in line and makes sure you are where you need to be on time?
Diluc: I guess that could possibly work?
Itsuki: I'm not sure this is much of a fair trade though master Diluc?
Diluc: forgive me sir, but you are asking me to marry a woman I wish not to marry. That to me is a lot to ask of a person
Itsuki: ... very well. I'll see what I can do for you master Diluc
Diluc: thank you sir

Diluc shakes the mans hand and leaves the study. Switches to y/n watching men unload the carriage of barrels. She strokes the horse and looks beyond Liyue harbour

Your POV

Surely I can explore for just a little while? I quietly leave the carriage and walk across the streets in Liyue. I smile the entire time, amazed by the gorgeous sights. All the people were waving and smiling to each other. Being so welcoming. I stumble upon a market stall full of amazing food choices. I eye at one called slow-cooked bamboo shoot soup. It seemed intriguing and decide to try it. I had some mora from the Adventurers guild task that I use. Maybe I should get something for Diluc too? We've had a long journey and we have to travel back too. As I'm thinking this I hear a man step up behind me

Man: I see you ordered the bamboo shoot soup? An excellent choice I must say. A personal favourite of mine
Y/n: oh that's good to know, thank you. I thought I would give it a shot.
Man: you made the right choice... umm
Y/n: oh I'm y/n
Zhongli: Zhongli. A pleasure to meet you
Y/n: same to you
Zhongli: you new here miss y/n?
Y/n: oh yes. I'm just visiting for the day
Zhongli: oh that is a shame. Are you sure you can't stay longer? Liyue has so much to offer
Y/n: I can see that. But I'll be sure to have a proper visit another occasion
Zhongli: at least let me accompany you before you go? Surely you can spare a little time?
Y/n: um sure. Why not?

Zhongli shows y/n around Liyue. They explore more of the Market stalls and harbour, looking at the different sceneries. Switches back to Diluc. He goes back to where the horse was and the now empty carriage.

Diluc POV

Where is she? She was definitely here? Where has she wondered off to. She has no idea how much effort I put in for her right now ugh! I ask the men working there if they saw where she went but they were all useless for information. Not a single person saw her leave! I leave to go find y/n. She can't have gone too far. I don't have time to chase after her. I want to get back to Mondstadt before nightfall. I look through the stalls asking if they saw a woman with h/c hair, and a purple dress with white boots. One person said that she was with a tall man with dark hair, with specific clothing. From the their description, I had a guess on who this mystery man was. Apparently they headed up towards a storyteller called Iron Tongue Tian. Great we've been here for less then an hour and she is already on a date. I head over to the area and see them sitting down at a table talking.

Diluc walks towards them with the angriest look on his face. Zhongli sees him approaching the table

Zhongli: Diluc? What a wonderful surprise to see you here
Diluc: come we are leaving!
Y/n: oh sorry, Zhongli was just showing me around
Zhongli: I apologise. I didn't realise you were both together
Diluc: we aren't together. She is here on business with me

Your POV

Don't get me wrong. I'm not the biggest fan of Diluc. But still, ouch! Little harsh. I was only having a short look around. There is no need to be so rude

Zhongli: come on Diluc, she was only having a little fun
Diluc: she is with you, that is what I am afraid of
Zhongli: nothing happened, I assure you.
Diluc: we are leaving now!

Diluc grabs me by the hand and drags me back to the carriage. He was being so forceful, and for what?! So what if I left for a little while? We get closer to the cart and I stop before he gets onto the horse and cart. He sits down on it and stares at me waiting to hop onto it. I cross my arms at him, glaring at him with a cold expression

Diluc: haven't I waited around enough for you today?!
Y/n: ...I want us to stay for the night
Diluc: you're kidding?!
Y/n: you tell me *takes a step closer to him*
Diluc: I am not staying the night! I've already done so much for you!
Y/n: and I have for you too... one night... that's all I ask. We can leave first thing tomorrow morning...
Diluc: why do you want to stay so badly?
Y/n: why do you want to leave so badly?! Have you looked at how pretty the city is?!
Diluc: let's just say I'm not too fond on certain people here
Y/n: what like Zhongli?!
Diluc: not just him... listen if a certain someone finds out I'm still here. They will look for me and cause a lot of chaos. That of which I can't deal with right now
Y/n: ok then, you can stay in a hotel while I explore the city streets
Diluc: ughh fine!! But we leave first thing in the morning!
Y/n: really?!
Diluc: ...yes

Y/n's expression quickly changes to joy. A big smile spreads across her face. She jumps around excited. Apparently the lights at night there were beautiful, Zhongli told her so. Diluc smirks at her excitement but y/n doesn't notice. She then grabs him by the wrist and looks for a hotel with him. Eventually they find one to spend the night. Diluc pays for the room even though y/n offered to help with the cost but he just ignored her request and paid for it anyways. They make way to the room.
