There is a short A/N after this. Nothing too important but a small note about this chapter! Enjoy!

"Wait, let's stop here quick," Calian barks over the windy air and loud beats of hooves on the hard stonepath.

The dark clouds are closing in on the sun, trapping the last bit of sunshine that is trying to peek through, making the air feel heavy and everything darker than before.

The dark bay horse with two riders is quickly stopped and Calian jumps down.

"Where are you going? I wouldn't imagine there is anything important here?" Dorian looks around the trashed down scenery, big pieces of stones in big piles, heavy air mixed with burned ashes and stone dust clinging to every piece of material.

Calian ignores the question and goes deeper into the graveyard of stones and buildings, maybe even people. Pieces of royal legacy and valuable but broken paintings can be seen scattered everywhere, though mostly everything is buried under the heavy stones or completely broken.

"I was sure I saw the glimmer somewhere, now where is it..." Calian mumbles to himself quietly, until the little glimmer he thought he saw showed up again. His eyes lit up and he took quick steps to the shiny object. "Amazing... and it's even in a decent condition."

Calian puts the object into his leather pocket that is attached to his cloak, carefully tip-toeing back to the dark horse with his lover on his back. Dorian looked quizzically while trying to get an idea on what Calian needed so badly to stop by the old ruins.

"Why did we stop here Calian? We still have a few hours ahead of us to get to the docks. We don't have too much time to take pit stops by old crashed down castles and trashed air that can kill us from the inside, if we stay for too long."

Calian looks up from the rocky ground back to his lover and slowly approaches the beautiful dark horse, petting his head affectionately.

"I thought I saw a glimmer, something that got lost a few weeks back. It can be really helpful for us if we get to the place we want to." He answered with a glimmer in his eye, lighting up the space around them and Dorian just shakes his head at his partner's excitement.

"But what was the oh-so-valuable object you wanted to find? And why aren't we already on our way? The patrolling guards will be coming here for a check-up in not too long!" Dorian panics a little on getting caught for absolutely nothing, but trespassing over ruined grounds can become a big bad result on them, and they can't be caught when freedom is close.

"I'll explain about it when we're on the ship. But the other reason for stopping is pretty much because of... memories," Calian looks back at the ruins with an occupied look.

Dorian kicks Calian lightly on his side and he looks back at the man on top of the horse. Dorian taps the back side of the horse, to tell Calian to get up so they can arrive at the needed location in time.

"What type of memories? Any specific ones?" Dorian takes notice of his partner's small smile, when giving a cookie to the stallion. Whispering out a 'good boy, Nuallán'.

After praising the horse he gets back up on the horse with the help of his lover and makes a motion with his hand to start riding forward.

"Good? Bad? Confusing ones, maybe? They're so unique that I can't put a specific word for what type of memories."

Dorian just nods his head and they start to walk the way to their freedom. "Whatever it is, you can tell me whenever you feel like it, I'm not pressuring you into telling me anything now."

He looks back at Calian and gives a wide smile. Calian imitates his loving and understanding words, giving him a quick, but an emotional kiss to show his gratitude.

"Thank you, now let's go before we get caught. I think I heard the patrol getting closer," and after those words the couple fled the graveyard of stones and dust towards the docks, a possible way to freedom and wealth.

Whew, I don't know why the prologue was somehow the hardest chapter to write, but it happened and this is actually its second version.

The first one was practically the last chapter (though it only was a small part of it) in third POV to give a "taste" of the ending, but then I started to think I want something else and came up with this. With the help of my editor of course.

So I hope this prologue got your interest!

One thing about this that I need to say is that the chapter's characters are not the main characters. You will understand and have your possible questions answered (hopefully) by the end of the book.

Though Calian and Dorian won't be the main characters, they will be met through out the story, but they don't have a big impact on how the story proceeds so they're not too often showed.

Nonetheless, see you in the first chapter! >.<
