Just wanted to say that pretty much most of the things in the book (probably) isn't historically correct lmao
I've tried to keep it at least somewhat real by searching some things, but there will be mistakes. So don't dwell too hard on them if you find something not accurate!
Though I'd love to know and hear facts if y'all have any from the medieval times :)
Enjoy the chapter!<3
The last few weeks have been quite busy. The celebration of Autumn - Roux - is creeping closer and preparations have been a must. Especially now with the sickness around. At the same time all the borders to the towns have been getting stronger guarding after the unknown threat and the sickness have started circling the kingdoms.
It was thought through a lot, if we would risk the celebration while the sickness is around, but the Royals came to the conclusion that Kaira will go with it. Just with a few more precautions than what we've had before.
We don't exactly know how the sickness works, how it goes from person to person so all of the four remaining kingdoms have gotten the task to make their own bunch of food and to keep distance from other people they're not used to seeing.
Right now it's the second week of September, the day before the Roux will be celebrated. The leaves on the trees have already started their change into their beautiful colors, and berries are turning ripe.
The beauty of this season is especially enhanced by the kingdom of Kaira, the kingdom that is the definition of Autumn's beauty.
The Roux is quite the same as the change of Spring celebration, but there's a more strengthened connection to the beliefs of Kaira's people. Still, everyone celebrates it as strongly as them.
There are only two celebrations our kingdoms celebrate together in the same place. Those are Roux and the winter ball.
Since Kaira's land is quite small compared to all the guests that will arrive, they usually use the land between them and Hiraeth, leading lighted paths to Kaira's land.
Those that seek more connection to the celebration can go and meet the Cerys and Oulixeus trees. It is said that they're the ones balancing life and death, love and hate.
The two trees are both protected by a dragon each. It is said that those that dare to open up themselves to see their true self, will be able to see them. After seeing the best and worst in themselves, they will see those two dragons circling the two trees: It is said to symbolize how time moves and how the world needs balance to work.
To be honest, Roux is one of my favorite festivities. I don't know if it's the beauty in it or the meaning, but either way I always look forward to celebrating it. Now more than ever though, since I won't be in the worst terms with a fancy eyed girl.
