Every year I come back to the conclusion that gift shopping is awful.

It's so hard to know what someone wants, or what they might need. And when there's more than one person you have to buy for? Hell, I'd rather sit on ice and freeze to death.

It's not more than a few days before Reyna's birthday, the 7th of April. And right now I'm trying to buy her a gift, without her knowing.

She thinks I'm out on my occasional meetings, but nope. I'm chasing ideas rather than people.

There's too much but at the same time too little gift ideas. I see one thing and think about another.

I know she doesn't want anything big, but something she could use. Something that would matter.

And that isn't an easy item to find.

So the second best option is to go to my best friends' and ask them if they have any ideas of what to buy her. Which is exactly what I am doing right now.

My feet drag me to their shop, and both seem to be inside the little hut when I arrive at their outdoor. By their half-closed door I open it a little and yell inside.

"Calian! Dorian! Are you home?"

"Coming!" A voice yells back in hurry.

Shuffling steps, almost as if someone is stumbling at full speed can be heard.

I might've caught them off-guard in some.. action.

I lean against the table that they have outside, which they only use to make bread on when it isn't cold. Soon that season will start again, when making food gets too hot inside of the house. Well hut.

It's Dorian who comes running out, putting on a jacket and ruffling his hair.

"Heyy! Did you need anything?" He asks.

"Did I come at the wrong time?" I smirk at him.

"No!" He yelps.

I laugh at his flustered face.

"I'm kidding. I have a problem though, maybe you could help me with it?"

He leans against the wall beside the outdoor. He is finally catching his uneven breathing.

"Sure, what's up?"

I sigh, rubbing my hand over my face and then over my hair. Slicking it back but it falls back over my forehead seconds later.

"I'm trying to buy a gift for Reyna's birthday, but I have no idea what to get her. I know she doesn't want anything useless, but something she can use. Something that could have a meaning. You got any ideas?"
