TW: some religious talk, declining health
~~
Tyler moaned in pain. "It's not working."
Josh put their foreheads together, Tyler's hot against his. He hugged him the best he could while laying down. "Give it a few more minutes."
"It's been a half hour." He whined. "Can you give me another one?"
"I'm not gonna let you OD on painkillers."
His whole body shivered. "So I'm supposed to be in pain?"
"Tyler..." Josh sighed through his nose. "I could take you to the emergency room."
"No," He whined again, but then scoffed softly. He was irritable. "I'm not going."
"Tyler."
"Come on... I don't want to go back." His teeth shattered together. "I-I can handle this."
"You sure?"
"Yeah. 102° isn't the end of the world."
"Yeah, but I told you if it gets to 104°, I don't care what you say. I'm taking you to the hospital."
He sighed shakily. "Okay, but it's not gonna get to that."
"And you know that, how?"
"I've got some faith."
"I'll take that faith too." The older one rubbed his back. "While we're at it, maybe some prayers could heal you."
Tyler exhaled. "Please don't make me laugh."
He stared into his brown eyes. "You know... my family does pray for you. I have too."
"Really?"
"Yeah they're religious, I don't know if I have told you."
"I think you did."
"I've prayed for you."
He smiled a little. "Thanks. Don't think it works but the thought is nice."
"Yeah. It's just in case, ya know?"
"Yeah." He sighed, looking sad. "You think I'll go to heaven? If there is one."
"Um... I mean, yeah. I think there's gotta be something. Ghosts are real."
Tyler hummed. "I've never seen one."
"Me either."
He laughed and then rubbed his face. "I told you not to make me laugh."
"Sorry."
Josh hugged his boyfriend and felt him sigh. He listened to each breath Tyler made and saved it in his mind.
His stomach growled and he whispered, "Hey, you hungry?"
"Mm..." He shivered against Josh's body. "A little."
"I am too... Do you want soup? Chicken noodle is the fan favorite when someone's sic-." Josh suddenly stopped. Last time he tried giving Tyler soup he found him passed out on the floor of his bedroom with blue lips.
"What?"
"Nothing, sorry. What do you want? I'll get it for you."
"...Kinda want Spaghetti O's."
Josh was mentally relieved that he didn't want Roman, the actual soup he planned on bringing to Tyler's house. It stayed on the white, tiled kitchen floor for hours as he dealt with him being in the hospital. He wondered what family member picked it up and if they ate it.
