lily always messes up shit. now the whole plan is off. she thinks she's so fucking smart. she's my pawn. she'll take the fall.

we stop at some ice cream shop. i get cotton candy, and kiara gets snickerdoodle. kiara carries both of the ice cream while i hold jackson.

  we get a few looks, some nice, with waves, and some with confusion and judgement.

   "hey, can we go home? i'm a little tired. we can invite pope, sarah, and john b, if you want," kiara asks, while we walk out of the tiny shop.

    i shiver. maybe we shouldn't party right now. i kinda just want to be with kie and jackson. "yeah, we can go home. but, uh, can we not invite the rest of the gang?" i question, with jackson falling asleep on me.

   "okay! you wanna watch a movie? i can go run in the store and get snacks." i smile at kiara. she always knows what i want.

     "hell yeah. also, i think someone needs a nap," i place jackson in his car seat. kiara gets into the passengers seat, nuzzling her head into the seat, yawning.

     i hop into the driver's seat, and kiss her cheek. i back out of the parking lot, and drive home.

i decide to play one of kie's favorite songs, which is ex factor by lauryn hill. i sing along to the lyrics. "no matter how i think we grow, you always seem to let me know, it ain't working," i softly belt. i tap the steering wheel to the beat, grinning. she smiles, her eyes closed.

kiara carrera is the best thing that ever happened to me, besides the pogues. she's been by my side through thick and thin.

we pull up at the house, and she's there, at the front doorstep, tapping her foot. i stop the car, and i'm paralyzed in fear. she smiles, waving at me.

i put the car in reverse, and speed the other way.

i can't see her again.
