I'm really loving these two!
Had a shitty day at work so I thought I'd write for my favorite people!
Hope you enjoy!
July 2023
Virginia's POV:
Sandra made the save. "You're up, Vir." Alexia patted my shoulder.
"Come on Vir!" Leila clapped.
I walked forward and looked around. "Hero last match. No pressure." I mumbled.
I took the ball from the ref and placed it down. I quickly looked over at Sandra who had her back to me. I wish I could do that too.
Nahikari's POV:
I looked down and felt Jenni's hand squeeze my shoulder. "I can't watch."
"I'll let you know." Jenni said.
The stadium remained quiet. I heard the whistle and waited. The stadium filled with noise and Jenni said it.
"She scored." I looked up and saw Vir yelling at our fans behind the goal. Getting them back into the match. She got back to us. "There we go!" Jenni grabbed her.
"Learned from the best." She smirked.
Sweden scored their penalty. Then Alexia scored her's to put us back in front. After another save by Sandra, all eyes were on me.
"You got this." Vir grabbed me. "You're on fire this tournament ok? You got this. She's not confident at all right now. Go with your gut."
I nodded and walked forward.
"Let's go Nahi!" I heard Mapi.
I placed the ball down and waited.
"You got this."
I took a deep breath and nodded.
"You're on fire this tournament ok? You got this."
I heard the whistle and took my shot.
Virginia's POV:
"GOAL!" Leila jumped up. "Come on!"
Nahikari looked at the crowd. She ran back towards us and jumped on Jenni. "Ok! Am I the go-to person now?" Jenni said.
"Yes." I said. "You always catch us."
"Cause if she doesn't, Alexia will probably kill her." Leila smirked.
"True." Alexia shrugged.
She came over to me. "I told you. I told you." I hugged her. "Nahikari Garcia. I'm so lucky to be on the same team as you. What a legend. Can I get a selfie later? Huge fan."
"Stop it." She pushed me away.
We all stood and watched Sandra. She couldn't make the save.
We all turned to Mapi.
"Fuck." She whispered.
She looked at Alexia and then walked forward.
We stood together and watched our star center back walk up. "Why are we sending Mapi?" Leila whispered. "I mean no offense to Mapi but, why?"
"I don't know." Irene whispered. "Why didn't we question this?"
"Because we're all idiots." Jenni whispered back.
Mapi stood there while the crowd waited in silence.
The whistle blew and we watched.
She took the shot and scored. We all ran towards her while she jumped in the air.
