Virginia's POV:
"We are in America." Leila smiled. "Anyone else feel like throwing up?"
"It's for Mariana stop it." I crossed my arms.
"Hmm. Right for Mariana. The only reason you agreed to come to America."
"What are you trying to say, Ouahabi?" I looked at her.
"I'm just saying. You and Mariana aren't friends. Mariana is just Mapi's girlfriend. But there is someone here who, as you said, is in love with Nahikari."
I nodded. "News flash. Nahikari and I aren't together. We'll never be together."
"Why not! Oh my god. I don't know who's worse at this point. You or Mapi!"
"Why am I involved in this? I have a girlfriend!" Mapi said.
"It took you a whole ass year to ask her out!" Leila said. "And YOU!" She turned to me. "You like Nahi. Nahi likes you! She freaked out and you drove ALL THE WAY to the hotel Real Sociedad were at and stayed with her! All night! Just so she'd feel better. And if I remember correctly, who was ready to break that Alex girl's nose when she saw her kiss Nahikari?"
"Virginia Torrecilla?" Mapi said.
"10 POINTS FOR THE NECK TATTOOED LESBIAN!"
"Can we please move on from my neck tattoo?"
"Never it was a stupid decision and I will haunt you about it for the rest of your life." Leila said quickly before looking at me.
"Am I interrupting?" Vero stood there.
"Not at all." I smiled. "Thanks for picking us up."
Nahikari's POV:
"You've reached Alex. Leave a message."
I sighed. "Hey Alex. It's me again. I saw the news and I know you probably don't want to talk, but I am still your friend. It's been a while since we've talked and I just want to know how you're doing. Please call me when you get this." I hung up and put my phone down.
"What's going on?" Jenni sat next to me.
I looked at her. "Nothing. How are you?"
"I'm fine." She smiled. "Now what's going on with you?"
I sighed. "Alex. She's," I shook my head. "Ignoring me. First Virginia goes out with Ona and now the person I thought was my friend is ignoring me."
"Wait back up. Vir and Ona?"
"I don't get it either." I closed my eyes. "I'm really excited about the Euros, but I really don't want to be around Virginia or Ona."
"Well, Virginia's in America right now. Also, they got together once, but that was it."
"Vir's in America?"
Alexandra's POV:
"It's been a while since we've talked and I just want to know how you're doing. Please call me when you get this."
The message ended and I put my phone down. "How's your hand?" Zariah asked.
"It's fine." I took a sip of my coffee.
"It looks like shit." She said. I rolled my eyes and put my cup down. "That Nahikari girl has been calling you for a few weeks now. You aren't going to call back?"
"And have to listen to her talk about Virginia?" I scoffed. "No thanks. I got enough shit in my life."
"You always do this. You push good people away, for what?"
"You push them away before they have the chance to leave you. I let her get close, she leaves once she gets with Virginia. Then I have nothing again."
"She doesn't seem like the type to do that."
"They never do." I got up. "I'm going to the gym."
"With your hand like that?"
"I'll be fine." I shut the door.
"Take my hand, Alex."
I closed my eyes.
"Reach for me. Come on, take my hand. I'll pull you up."
"You left me when I needed you most." I whispered.
Virginia's POV:
After a few days in Utah so Mapi could see her girlfriend, we were leaving.
Mariana had a road trip and we weren't going to travel with her.
"Why are we going to Boston?" Leila asked.
"I need to pay someone a visit." I said.
We landed in Boston and I looked around. "Where is this someone?" Mapi asked.
I opened Instagram and looked. "At the gym."
We got in a car and got dropped off at the gym. "Who are we looking for exactly?" Leila asked.
I saw her walk toward the doors. "Wait here." I walked to the door. "Alex!" I yelled. She stopped and turned around.
"What are you doing here?" She asked.
"I was visiting a friend. Thought I'd pay you a visit." I put my hands in my pockets. "Why are you being so weird with Nahikari?"
"You're here in defense of your girlfriend?"
"She's not my girlfriend," I said. "But she's a good person with a heart of gold. And I'm not going to stand by while an asshole disrespects her."
"Because you're so much better for her?" She walked toward me. "I'd treat her way better than you could."
"Really?" She nodded. "Then why are you ignoring her? When she was freaking out in her hotel room after weird conversations with you, who'd she call? That's right. She called me." I got in her face. "And where were you?" I noticed her hand all wrapped up. "I know I'm not good for her. I'm not good with commitment, which is why she's not my girlfriend. I know I can never give her the relationship she deserves so I'm not going to try. I don't want to hurt her. But I don't pretend to be the one for her. That's you."
"You don't know me."
"I don't?" I smirked. "Hmm let's see. Alexandra, that's your full name right? Hockey player. Mexican parents. Something happened when you were young that changed you. Maybe it was always there but that event? It flipped the switch. You have a lot of anger in you. Anger at the world, those around you, anger at yourself. I'm going to say this once so you understand. Stay the hell away from Nahikari." I turned to walk away.
"What are you going to do if I don't?" I turned and saw her face. That smirk.
"Virginia." Leila started walking toward me. "She's not worth it." She grabbed me.
"You're right." I said. "She's not worth it. Nahikari agreed to go out with you, but the whole time I was the one on her mind. She'll never like you. Not when I'm around. But neither of us is good enough for her. So stay the hell away from her. Or you'll seriously regret it."
Leila started to pull me away. "What the hell." Mapi said. "We came to Boston so you could start a fight?"
"I didn't start a fight. I came here to protect Nahikari."
"You want me to stay away!" Alex yelled. "You'll have to make me."
I stopped. "I didn't come here to start a fight. But I'll finish one."
