Surprise! It's been an eventful few months. Very stressful but eye-opening at the same time. Think I came out a better person at the end of it. If you're curious, I'll let you know. The only reason I didn't include it is cause it's a long and complicated story. The only long and complicated story I give a shit about right now though is Virginia and Nahikari.
So enjoy the NEWEST update of The Quiet Girl. I'll try to update more often because I would like to wrap these stories up.
See you in the new chapter!
May 2026
Nahikari's POV:
"FC Barcelona beating Sporting 1-0. Jenni Hermoso scored the winning goal assisted by Mariana. In other news, the Boston Pride of the Premier Hockey Federation lost to Toronto Six in the Isobel Cup final. Alex Hernandez finished her short season tied for 2nd within the team for scoring. Fans are hoping the team will re-sign her for next season, but given her problems off the ice, the organization is being careful."
"Damn, that girl can't catch a break." Nat leaned over the couch.
"Why are you here?" I looked at her.
"We have practice? I'm driving today? We literally talked about this 2 days ago, Nahi."
"I know." I turned the tv off and got up. "How'd you get in though."
"Oh." She smiled. "My brother taught me how to pick locks."
"You broke into my house?"
"No." She shook her head. "You're spare key was under the pot of flowers. I used that."
I laughed. "Let's go."
Alexandra's POV:
I cleaned out my locker and saw the coach wave me over. "Tomorrow morning. The staff wants to speak with you. Don't be late."
I nodded. "I will be there."
I finished up and drove home.
"Z! I'm home!" I saw a shirt on the floor. "What the shit?"
I put my keys down and waited. Then Beck walked into the room. "Have you seen my," I pointed to the floor. "thanks." He picked it up. "This is awkward."
I shook my head. "Just don't get her pregnant." I grabbed some food.
"Hey." Zariah walked into the room. "You're home. Hi. Oh hey! Beck's here too."
"She knows." He said.
"What? How?"
"Careful where you throw shirts next time." I smirked. "My best friend and my sister." I nodded. "You know, I don't hate it. Cause at least I know he's a good guy."
"Enough about us. How did it go today?" Beck asked.
"I have a meeting tomorrow morning. Hopefully, it's about my contract extension." I said.
"And if it's not?" Zariah asked.
"I find another team." I said. "We'll go from there."
Virginia's POV:
"How's the party planning maid of honor?" Lola walked behind me. "If I don't end up face down on the sidewalk, it ain't a party."
"You're a hazard to us all." I looked at her. I closed my laptop. "It's gonna be fun but not too crazy. Keep in mind we have Mariana's AND Mapi's."
"You say that like it's a bad thing." She walked away.
My phone lit up.
Natalia
"Hello?" I answered.
"Vir!" She yelled. "I got your message what's up?"
"Mariana's party. I want to surprise her."
"Alright, what'd you have in mind?"
"You."
"Me?"
"Yep."
"Why me?"
"You two are great friends but barely get to hang out. You're coming to the wedding anyway. Just come a few days earlier and party with us."
"I will be there." She said. "How are things with you and Nahi?"
"Great. Why?"
"Because you two are madly in love with each other and barely get to hang out."
I laughed. "Fair. That is fair. I'll see her at the wedding. It sucks but this is how our lives are right now. One day it won't be like this."
"So you two are in this for the long run?"
"I am. She brings out the best in me. Helped me remember what's important in life. That there's life after football. What about you and Daan?"
"We haven't talked much about our futures which concerns me a little. I know what I want. Marriage. Kids. The whole thing. I don't know what Daan wants but hopefully, she wants the same."
"I hope so too, Nat. We all seem to get very lucky in the relationship department."
"That we did. All thanks to Mapi and Mariana if you think about it."
"Well, Jenni and Alexia were together first but I get what you mean. Mari joining our friend group helped all of us grow up. And we met you, Daan, the English girls, the Dutch girls, the Italians. Our group chats look like the United Nations!"
She laughed. "Speaking of dating, I have to go pick up your girlfriend. We have lunch plans today."
"Then I will let you go. You two have fun, I will call her later so if she says anything about me not calling her just know that I will. Let me know when she's back home so I don't interrupt lunch."
"Roger roger."
June 2026
Alexandra's POV:
"Damn everyone is at that wedding." Beck scrolled through his phone. "Well, not everyone." He looked at me.
"Z! I'm gonna kill your boyfriend!"
"Go ahead. That's your best friend!"
Beck's jaw dropped. "Seriously? You'd just let her kill me?"
"You two do this like once a week. If it gives me the SMALLEST bit of peace, kill away."
I smiled. "You said the meeting went well?" Beck asked.
"It did. Very well actually."
"So?"
"I'll hear back soon. But it sounded like they wanted to extend my contract. I've put in the work. I'm committed to Boston and I proved that."
"She's matured." Beck smiled.
"She has." Zariah nodded. "Keep it up, Alex." She left the room.
I looked down. "Hey, she'll come around. It's just been tough for her too."
"I get it, Beck. I put both of you through hell. But I'm not gonna go back to that. I'm serious this time. Forward. Always move forward."
