Virginia's POV:
I ran at Mariana and then ran into her. She went down I knew something bad had happened.
"Shit!" I looked at the benches. "Come here now!" I kneeled down on the field. "Mariana? I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to!" I heard people run near me
"Hey hey! What happened?"
"I clipped her I think. I don't know." I looked back down at her. "Mariana, what's wrong?"
"My ankle."
"Watch out!"
"Move out of the way!"
"Mari I am so sorry!"
Nahikari's POV:
"Utah forced to take Mariana off after a collision with Virginia. Looks like an ankle injury. Hopefully it's nothing too serious and she'll be back on the field in no time."
After the game ended, I waited. Then I grabbed my phone. "Hello?"
"Vir." I said. "I know you're beating yourself up about this."
"I feel terrible, Nahi." She sighed. "She said it's fine but I still feel awful. I didn't mean to hurt her!"
"I know, Vir. We all know. Things like this happen sometime." I smiled.
"I know we haven't talked much." She said. "Why'd you call?"
"I've been watching the games. I saw your reaction after Mariana's injury. I knew you'd need someone to talk to."
"And you wanted to be that someone?"
"I always want to be that someone."
"As friends though. Right?"
I looked down. "When you get back to Madrid call me. I think we should get together. Talk about all of this."
"Really?"
"Really." I said. "We both know everything. It's time to put the phones down. Talk face to face."
"I'd like that." She said.
"Oh. By the way. Alex said thanks. I guess you visiting her, whatever happened it was the wake up call she needed. She wanted to thank you."
"If she's back on track than a thank you wasn't necessary." She said. "I'll see you soon, Nahi."
Virginia's POV:
"I'll see you soon, Vir." She said and hung up. I smiled and put my phone away.
"Everything ok?" Lola asked, a small smile on her face.
"When did you know you loved Carmen?"
"I don't remember. I think the minute I first hung out with her, our first date? I just knew she was the one for me. It's different for everyone, Vir. Some people feel it right away, others a few months, some years. Not everyone feels love the same way."
"What does it feel like for you?"
She smiled and looked at Carmen. She was talking with Laia. "She's my everything. I'd do anything to make sure she's happy. If she's sad I need to know why. I need to know how to make it better. I wake up every day and realize how lucky I am to be alive at the same time as her. She never ceases to amaze me." Carmen walked over. "She's saved me more than she knows."
"See Vir?" Carmen smiled. "I told you Lola is a big softy."
I laughed. "She is."
