I know I didn't update last month, but this chapter is super long to make up for it, it's over 9,000 words. I believe it's one of the longest chapters I have ever written to date. Enjoy!

The following week, I go to school and meet with the board of nursing. I inform them of the situation of what happened between Marcus and Tobias. I spill about everything that has been happening over the semester. The head of the board agrees to help with the Marcus situation. Unfortunately, they can't do anything to help Tobias. It's out of their hands and jurisdiction. At the end of the meeting, the head of the nursing department states, "Marcus will be dealt with accordingly for his actions. We have had several complaints about him over the years."

Tobias seems to be handling his unexpected time off better than I expected. He has been working out more at the gym and hanging out with his friends more. Deep down, I can tell Tobias is sad about what happened, but Tobias won't speak to me about it. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop and for him to have a meltdown, but he doesn't. When I come home from clinical, I often catch him practicing his surgical techniques on different fruit in the house. He will smile at me while I walk by the scalpel, needle, and thread lay near him with a banana on the table. I fight a smile, replying, "Don't hurt the banana too badly." He laughs, "Don't worry, I gave it some pain medication first."

I decide to surprise Tobias with a week away at the cabin with all our friends one weekend. Zeke, Uriah, Marlene, Christina, and Will head to the cottage earlier on Friday to help straighten up the place. Everyone feels awful about what Marcus did to Tobias. I plan to spend Saturday and Sunday with Tobias at the cabin, and everyone else will join us on Monday. We can all spend time at the cottage being young adults, making stupid decisions, and Tobias is coming with us. I need to figure out a way to kidnap him. I will have to think of some way to get him to follow along.

On my last day of clinical, I'm somewhat emotional when I say goodbye to Tori. I mutter, "Thank you for taking me under your wing and teaching me. Next time you see me, I'll be an actual RN." Tori smiles, giving me a hug, saying, "It has been a pleasure watching you grow with your nursing knowledge. I will see you when you return to this unit. If you ever need any help, don't be afraid to ask."

Leaving the unit, I walk to the OR and find Chris as she is walking out. She lets me into the area. Immediately, I search for Dr. Lawrence's office. I find his office door open. I knock and enter, taking a deep breath, attempting to build my confidence, and defend Tobias's name. He is writing on the computer while I speak, "Hello, Dr. Lawrence." He stops, his eyes meet mine, asking, "Hello. How may I help you?" Confidently, I continue, "My name is Beatrice Prior. I would like to tell you, Dr. Eaton is my fiance. He never harassed me or threatened my life. He has never once threatened to post naked pictures of me anywhere. Marcus made up all of those lies to ruin Dr. Eaton's career." Dr. Lawrence leans back in his chair, crosses his arms, sighing, "I wish I could believe you, Tris, I really do, but I need more proof than you coming to me and accusing Marcus of lying. I have been friends with him my entire life. Why would Marcus lie about such a thing?" I answer, "Dr. Eaton has never done anything but be professional at this hospital with anyone." Dr. Lawrence nods his head, his voice becomes stern, asking, "Why should I believe a little girl over a friend?" Shrugging my shoulders, I sigh and begin from the beginning of Tobias's and my story. I share how Tobias and I were friends, at first, then boyfriend and girlfriends, and finally an engaged couple. I share almost everything with him, leaving out only our most intimate details in our relationship. Like the fact, I live with him and share a bed with him in an attempt to save Tobias's career. I utter under my breath, "Marcus has been after me since my first day of clinical at this hospital. Now, he is attempting to drag Tobias's career down to get to me. I'm not sure why Marcus hates me so much. I'm not sure what I ever did to warrant him to go after Tobias and bring him into this. This battle was between Marcus and me."
