Beep... Beep... Beep.... wakes me. What an annoying noise! Where the hell is that noise coming from? My eyes dart open as the memories come back to me, the dizziness, the blurred vision, the disoriented hearing, the room spinning. The room is bright with people moving all around me. No one notices I am awake, yet. Where is Tobias? Organized chaos happens around me as I try to concentrate on the two figures standing outside the doors talking. Another machine is hooked to me, and another needle is jabbed into me as I shut my eyes, letting the darkness consume me once again, letting the music of the machines lull me to sleep.

Time Skip

My eyes spring open to the sound of an IV pump alarms. I wish someone would turn it off. Am I dead? Is this hell? I think to myself.

A nurse that I don't know, stands next to me, playing with the IV machine, not noticing that I am awake. My eyes move to the chairs in the room, expecting to find Tobias. He isn't there. Where is he? My eyes feel heavy as the questions float around my mind.

Time Skip

The sun shining through the window isn't the thing that wakes me. It is the noisy machines. I really wish someone would shut them off. My eyes dart around the room again, finding the clock. It is nine in the morning. The beep of the heart monitor can be heard. I ball my hand into a fist, only to feel a slight tug, an IV. I look to my side to find Tobias sleeping in a chair next to my bed. He is still in the same scrubs as the day I blacked out. My eyes skate to the board on the wall. I have lost two days of time. I want to know what happened. My eyes lock on Christina, who is crying in the corner. I try to talk, but can't.

I croak, "What happened, Chris?" My voice sounds raspy to my own ears. Chris breaks out into a huge smile as she begins to wipe the tears from her eyes as she says, "I'm so happy that you are awake! I was so worried about you. You have been out for two days. You are a medical mystery to the doctors. Some think that you were dehydrated before you blacked out, you were mumbling about a headache. Others aren't sure and are awaiting your final test results to come back before passing a diagnosis."

As Chris is talking, Tobias wakes up, he begins to stir. His eyes meet mine as he jumps up startled saying, "You're awake. She is really awake, right, Chris? I'm not dreaming this, right?"

"No, she is awake." Chris giggles as she runs over to me, hugging me tightly as Tobias pulls me into his arms awkwardly, whispering, "Thank goodness. I was so worried."

After Chris finishes hugging me, she leaves me room, saying, "I am so happy that you are awake, but I am going to leave you and Four alone for a while to talk."

Once Chris is gone, I start asking Tobias the question plaguing my mind most, "When can we leave? I feel much better, and I am fine." Tobias looks at me like I have grown a second head as he says, "You have just woken up. Your doctors are going to want you to stay a few days to monitor you to make sure whatever happened to you this last time doesn't happen again."

I whine, "But, Tobias, what if you came and spent the week with me, and moved in somewhat. I would have a doctor with me 24/7."

"Tris, I am a surgeon. I'm not an emergency room doctor. I am not an internal medicine doctor. Your actual doctors aren't even sure what is wrong with you. How am I supposed to be of any use if you pass out again? Your actual doctors have years more experience than I do?"

"Weren't you a medic in the Army?"

"That is completely different. I learned the skills needed to save a life on a battlefield. I don't think that I could live with myself if something happened to you because I gave you to okay to go home." He says with a pleading look in his eyes.
