I quickly try to hide behind my magazine, but it is too late, Marcus has already seen me and apparently, luck is not on my side right now. "Miss Prior, what are you doing off your unit early? Did I not say that you had to stay on your unit until 3 p.m.?" Marcus asks.

I start to panic, as I try to form a story, something, or else Marcus will verbally kill me. To make matters worse he will take pleasure in killing my grade average this early in the semester by deducting a massive amount of points. Knowing my luck, he will deduct so many points from my grade he will make me fail this class, thus making me fail my senior year.

"Well, Miss Prior. I'm waiting for your excuse." Marcus asks as he stares at me.

I am just about to open my mouth, to tell him that Tori let me leave early, when Dr. McHotty walks by, looking strangely at me. He walks into the gift shop for a second, then he walks back out as he says, "There you are! I was looking everywhere for you. Tori, sent me to get you, to see what was taking you so long to get Ms. Smith, her special bottle of water that only this gift shop carries. Also, did you find the right magazine that she wanted?"

Marcus eyes us both suspiciously. Dr. McHotty grabs my bottle of water and magazine from my fingertips and walks away from me with it. I follow behind him, wondering what the hell is wrong with this man, but before I walk away, I hear Marcus quip, "Beatrice I will be watching you. I know the truth. I will be waiting for you to slip up again. Then you will be in big trouble, so big, you won't ever make it to graduation."

I gulp, as I walk away, following Dr. McHotty awkwardly. I turn on my heel after we are around the corner, and I am in front of him, as I say, "Why did you help me out of trouble? What are you getting out of this? You, do know there is no Ms. Smith, on the unit right? What is in it for you?" I ask suspiciously.

I stand there, trying to figure out this guy, trying to think about what is in it for him by helping me. He must have an alternative motive, no one is that nice to someone that they just met. Dr. McHotty says "First off, my name is Four. I am a new resident doctor here, and it was very nice of you to help me this morning, Beatrice. Plus Tori, she did send me down here to fetch you. I was on the unit, rounding on my patients, and she asked me for a favor when she saw that I was finished early. She asked me to come and get you. Apparently, Marcus decided to make a surprise appearance on the unit, and he was looking for you. She told me to tell you how sorry she was, that she forgot, and I quote that Marcus is an ass."

I must have zoned out, because of all of a sudden, Dr. McHotty, or should I say Four says, "Earth of Beatrice! Aren't you going to say thank you, at least? You know I saved your butt back there?"

I am so embarrassed. I just got lost in his beautiful blue eyes again like I did this morning. My embarrassment turned into anger as I snap, "I'm a big girl. I can handle myself. I don't need you to save me. Plus, my name is Tris, not Beatrice!"

Four stands there in shock, then you can see his face turn red, as he says "First off Tris. Who said you needed saving? I wasn't doing it for you. I was doing it as a favor for Tori."

I start to apologize for talking to him like that, when he says: "Don't worry, I like them feisty."

He throws me a wink as he walks away, leaving me breathless, and speechless. I slowly, walk back to my unit, then notice my watch, that it reads 3 o'clock, and that means I am officially free.

I walk back downstairs, Christina is waiting for me. I am too busy thinking about what had just happened with Four, to notice Chris until I am right next to her. She is bouncing up and down.

"Why are you so excited?"

"Because Will asked me out, like on an actual date." She squeals as she pulls me into a hug. It took him long enough. She had been making eyes at him since freshman year. I guess, he is a little slow on the uptake. Needless to say, I am happy for them both of them. That is; until Christina mentions that she needs to go shopping for new clothes her date in a few weeks with Will. I groan. I hate shopping with a passion.

"Chris, I'm so tired. I need a nap. It's been a long day. Can't we just go another time?" I say, already knowing the answer to my question.

Chris, of course, being Chris says: "Are you crazy?"

So I get dragged to the mall for five hours to help Chris pick out an outfit, shoes, and jewelry for her date with Will. She tries on outfit after outfit. I am ready to die from the boredom of watching Chris try on so many outfits. Everything that Chris tries on she looked great in. Finally, she finds the one. Chris and I decide to eat dinner at Applebees, and during dinner, Chris makes the decision that she will drag me on her date with Will as a third wheel. Apparently, they are going to some dance club. The whole time, Chris is busy talking, about how Will asked her out, how dreamy he is, and how she can't wait for the date. I am getting ready to snap at Chris. I am tired and cranky, but I hold my tongue. As I am walking out of the restaurant with Chris, guess who comes walking through the door with a group of other guys? I almost didn't recognize him in regular clothes. Let me tell you, I thought he looked good in scrubs, he looks even better in street clothes. You can see how much muscle he has. He is wearing dark blue jeans, a tight white t-shirt, and a flannel shirt over the top of his t-shirt. His dark hair was going in every direction, and he is sporting a five 'clock shadow. After how good he looks, the next thing I notice is how tired he looks.

Chris elbows me as she whispers, "Tris, look it's Dr. McHotty." I ignore her, trying not to make eye contact.

It was bad enough that I had made an ass of myself this afternoon at the hospital. When Four, notices me, he breaks away from the other residents that I have seen at the hospital, that he is there with. He has a slight smile on his face as he says: "Tris, it's great to see you here."

I just say "Oh hi Four," pretending that I hadn't noticed him when he was walking in.

Four smiles tightly as he says, "Tris, you should join us."

I say, "I'm sorry, but I'm dead tired. Plus, Chris and I are on our way out."

With those words, Four's smile disappears as he looks like a kicked puppy, and says, "That's okay. Bye Tris. Maybe another time? See you around."

After the door closes, Chris punches me lightly, and says, "Are you crazy? He totally wanted to have a drink with you. You must be blind if you didn't see the way he was looking at you."

I shrug as I say, "Chris, I don't even know him. I have only met him today. He could be a serial killer for all I know. Plus I'm not looking for a boyfriend at the moment. I need to concentrate on school and this clinical."

Christina laughs, "You need to loosen up and stop being such a prude! Who cares if he is a serial killer, at least he is hot!"

I laugh at her statement as I shake my head. Chris and I drive home. As soon as my head hits the pillow, I am out cold. During that night, I dream about a certain doctor, with deep blue eyes, and that wore black scrubs.
