"What do you want Cyrus?" Kyser sighs from beside me. Boredom and annoyance seep into his tone. His nonchalant attitude, however, does not match his venomous glare which is directed at the man that just appeared behind us.
Under the faint glow of the luminescent water, Cyrus grins sinfully. He stands in a far corner of the cave, taking a few steps towards us. As he does this, the glow emitting from the water casts an ominous shadow across the side of his face illuminating his wicked eyes. They are a striking color of gold, which seems to blaze with magic, much like Kyser's. The two males glower at one another. However, Cyrus seems more amused than anything else.
"Is this the pretty thing you've been keeping caged up in your little sand dungeon?" Cyrus hums amusingly, eyes landing on me curiously. I feel uncomfortable under his gaze. Those cunning eyes watch me intently, and I suddenly feel very exposed.
A suffocating aura envelopes every inch of the cave, and it's coming from Cyrus. His power is like nothing I've ever seen before. The only person I could ever compare it to would have to be Kyser, and I'm certain that he hasn't displayed his full capabilities to me.
"Get out of here would you," Kyser grumbles. He stands and places himself in front of me. My legs feel like lead. I can't move.
Cyrus chuckles sardonically, "You're no fun. I'm simply curious as to why you chose to come to my territory, out of all places. It came as a surprise when I discovered such a tumultuous disturbance of magic, on my land. I just had to come to investigate."
I peer from behind Kyser, to silently observe Cyrus. He's otherworldly. His features are unnaturally perfect, a feat I've noticed in immortals. His height matches Kyser's, which is rare. They both tower above me, especially from where I sit on the ground.
Despite his beauty, I can almost immediately tell that I do not like Cyrus. He makes me feel uneasy. He's powerful, and I don't like it.
"We were just leaving," Kyser mutters and reaches a hand out for me to take. He avoids turning his back to Cyrus, for obvious reasons.
I reach up and take Kyser's hand, for once accepting his help and get up off the stone floor.
"Why don't you first explain to me how a little spirit like her is straying so far away from where she belongs. I can tell that she hasn't finished serving her time." Cyrus peers over Kyser's shoulder and his eyes meet mine. An icy sensation envelopes my body.
I have no clue what they are talking about, but I can tell that it has something to do with Kyser getting me out of Hell. Now that I think about it, I never bothered to ask Kyser how he was able to do that in the first place. I wonder if he could get in trouble for it.
Kyser remains silent, choosing not to divulge any information.
"Did this magic come from you, little girl?" Cyrus asks, averting his gaze which now blazes cynically in my direction. I grip Kyser's hand tightly, averting my eyes to the floor.
Kyser steps in front of me, again, blocking the golden-eyed immortal from my view. "Do not test me, Cyrus. I haven't forgotten about how you tried to kill me a few decades ago. I will not hesitate to return the gesture."
"Oh, don't be like that. All of that's in the past. I don't want your powers anymore." Cyrus divulges, brushing the threat off as though it means nothing to him.
Kyser doesn't pull his hand away from mine, which I am secretly thankful for. It's the only source of comfort I have, at this moment. Never did I expect to be able to find warmth like this in a being I once thought I hated so much. I still don't trust Kyser, but I don't hate him. I give his hand a little squeeze.
